I truly don't see how anyone could get tired of J-Pop or anytype of Japanese music, the lyrics have real meaning. Western music is demeaning and over rated..

Japanese music is authentic, with good values <3.

I feel the same.. although, I think that all music sucks lately, hah.

There are just a few exceptions like The Pipettes, hitomi, Mika, Ayu (a bit)..

Well, if that's not a huge generalization of Western music, I don't know what is. And you certainly can't say all Japanese music has lyrics that 'have real meaning'.

Thats the problem with people today, they dont appreciate the lyrics to a song anymore. They only want to see an artist dancing around half naked.. Terrible what the worlds become

lol I started listening to more K-pop now too. Just switch around...and American music....meh...the rhythm and beats of most of the songs are overused and the lyrics they use are just as overused.

Um, or they genuinely like the MUSIC of a song? I mean, it's called MUSIC, right? If you want good, deep words, you can read poetry. But I think the most important part of music is the melody and arrangement, not the lyrics.

Well, it's not that I don't admire the the lyrics, and also the most important thing on a song to me isn't ppl dancing half naked. What matters to me most is the melody, is how the composition blends with the vocals and arrangements. The fact I'm into japanese music is proof that I put lyrics at a very lesser degree of importance because I know nothing of japanese and I don't understand what ayu is saying when she's singing her songs at all. I just really enjoy her voice and the beat lol

Really? Although there are some good japanese artists with good lyrics, most of the time I find jpop lyrics a bit on the sappy and fluffy side, or it could be the weird Engrish distracting me...It may not be filled with sexual undertones like some western mainstream music, but to be honest, I find most of their lyrics generally within the same context.

astn☆彡 I think you shouldn't look at it in being "Japanese Music" or "K-pop" or "Western Music". I think you should view it as "I like this musician I want to buy their cd." Personally I go about music in my personal "I like you or This is garbage" format. Basing ideals like Japan's music is better and vice versa in my opinion isn't the way to go about things either. I think It should be about the musician, not the "scene" or "country", or whatever.

I never get tired of jpop and it's the only music I listen to (besides some English songs, korean songs of BoA and and sweetbox/jade).

I don't like korean music just because I don't like the sound of the language.
I only like some BoA's because they have REALLY good beats or they're pretty.
I tried others but didn't like how the singing sounds.

I stay with japanese all the way even if generally sometimes it falls.
I seperate my liking differently between artists, songs individualities, styles etc. inside of it.

You can try stopping listening to it for sometime, you might want to listen to it again (miss it) after some months or a year XD

i can't stand american music now. i still love jpop, and the only kpop i like is from the wonder girls, lol.

but i prefer japanese over korean, anyway.

For me it's the complete opposite. I started losing interest in American music and so I turned to J-music because I was already really into Japanese culture, but I understand where you're coming from. But hey, it's no biggie. It's not like there's a rule that says you can't post here just because you don't like J-music. So yeah, no worries

Eng music used to be top dog but when Hip Hop came in & took over from Rock , ugh

it was getting a sight for sore eyes to see 1/2 naked chicks on MTV as time goes by if you ask me

J Pop I think's still quite conservative to a certain extent

I think music goes hand in hand with balence. I think someone mentioned this earlier. Myself, I listen to American music and Japanese music everyday. I listen to American music at the gym and at home I listen to Japanese music.

I know everyone has their own preferences, but I think you might want to explore new genres of music. I don't know what you listen to, but I found that true for myself. Years ago, I would ONLY listen to Rock, Alternative, and Metal. However, one day I realized, "What am I doing?! I'm limiting myself to so many amazing artists!" So I started to look for quality artists, instead of what was "popular". I've discovered that I like ALL genres of music: Rock, Metal, Alternative, Pop, Jazz, Soul, R&B, Hip-hop, Rap, Opera, ect.

I'm so much happier now too because I no longer think, "I can't like this artist! They are singing ----"

So I guess my main point is.....like someone said earlier....don't limit yourself to only Japanese, American, Korean, Pop, Urban, ect. Listen to what you like, and yes maybe Japanese music was just a phase, but that's part of living and maybe you'll come back to Japanese music again.

So go explore music!

I always wonder about statements like "music these days is all about naked women dancing and sex and drugs" as if there was once a golden age of music where everything was deep and meaningful and pure and somehow utopian... there has always been shallow lyrically meaningless music just meant to hit the radio and sell a record or two (since the radio's been around I mean). I never understand the reference to 'now'. I mean... the other day I saw the video for Salt n' Pepa "Shoop"... I mean... dumb lyrics and sexy dancing to a beat certainly isnt a 'new' and terrible fad.

I like that song. lol

I don't like american/eurpoean,etc music.
I only listen to jpop and well kpop (Wonder Girls).
I love asian music.

but everyone has their taste and if you aren't happy with what ou are hearing right now, I just don't see why you shouldn't listen to something else
and you can still visit AHS!!! there are no rules 'bout that! you better not leave AHS !

it's like, we know english and speak it everyday. why not listen to another language for a change? at least we're being open minded and dicovering something else besides rap, rap, and more rap. because that's all i see on MTV nowadays.

oh, and also the HORRIBLE miley cyrus and overrated jonas brothers, LOL. like seriously. and i thought JE was evil. disney is just plain crazy with their music acts now.
