i havent known that my story had such a great first 3 weeks sales and then such a big drop! but still lets hope AC can sell a milion. its a compilation and those usually chart for long fime than normal studio album.

I'm just sick of these fans she has that would rather spew total crap than even try to think of something positive. It really isn't THAT hard to think of a bright side to a situation, nor is it difficult to find something likable about A COMPLETE (sure the songs aren't new but have you actually LISTENED to these songs? Have you heard how polished they are? How they're cleaned up and structured to be almost pristine and perfect? No? Then stop complaining).

My Story had an incredible 3rd week! If the sales hadn't dropped as they did, My Story would have sold 1,200,000-1,400,000. Anyway, I guess that won't happen this time, but I'm satisfied with the sales of AC so far

Well she did have a fantastic CDL. Was the third week's sales after the concert? I won't be surprised if that factored in for the 3rd week spike. Thanks for the My Story charting post. This gives a little hope for A Complete's one million.

No, it's not that we are satisfied, it's that we knew it was going to be like this yet everyone else turned a blind eye and said things like she would beat Namie's first weak, it would sell over a million etc. etc. When anyone that has followed how Oricon goes over the last several years would have known that those things weren't going to happen. A million isn't even possible really at this point unless her sales stabilize at some point and then continue selling like that for several weeks, but that hasn't happened for Ayu in a long time, so don't count on it.

And as to your second question - actually no. And this goes for any artist, not just Ayu - things that deserve it should always sell more than things that don't. (in a perfect world)

She may just barely hit 500k for the first week.(certainly not bad sales, but not awesome either and many people would consider on the low side for a collection such as this.)

I don't see why sales passing the 500k mark is such a big deal. I know they don't mean it literally, but everyone saying, "C'mon Ayu, you can do it", makes absolutely no sense. Ayu isn't wandering around the streets with a pushcart selling A COMPLETE.

I've sorta learnt to not give a bejeezus about sales anymore.

They complicate things.

Though I'd have to say that with just about no previous/current promotion for A COMPLETE, it's doing extremely well. Had this been the Ayu we knew like 3-4 years ago, she'd have been on every show imaginable every day of the week.

IMO, they want her to get to the 500k mark just like all of her albums. There's nothing wrong with that as they think that getting to 500k or more will mean she's still a top seller and that she's up there with the big dawgs. I think this particular time they want her to achieve the 500k- million mark because the kween uff heep-huup broke the 500k her 1st week and a million in only 3 weeks. =/

@Truehappiness: You prolly already know this but compilations are bound to do good for big artists even without huge promotion or such. Hikki released her compilation and she only had like one or two rinky-dink magazine promotions and that one CM promotion and that did well. Although sales are nowhere near that time, it's just the fact that like you said, AC would be doing waaaaay better than its doing now despite AB2 being released last year.

Well personally I think it's doing quite well considering she just had a compilation released last year and she's not exactly promoting it that much anyway. If I had bought A BEST 2 last year, probably I wouldn't even consider purchasing A COMPLETE because it would be a waste of money. Most of these are on A BEST and A BEST 2 anyway. Somehow the packaging and the promotional campaign seemed more geared towards those fans who have followed Ayu's career for years and would like to look back at her career. Or fans who'll just buy anything released by Ayu.

A BEST 2 had a massive promotional campaign with her performing and being constantly on tv and magazines, while this one seems to be getting even less promotion than a single would, apart from the billboards. The photoshoot wasn't that "huge" either. It seemed to be a side project to the 2009 calendar thing and we only got a few photos. The dress looked suspiciously recycled. The rest were recycled from her single discography. So in the end I'm quite satisfied with the sales and I'm pretty sure avex are too.

Using Hikki as an example is like comparing someone's sales in the U.S. to Michael Jackson's Thriller.

ARE YOU CRAZY? Jesus, at least think before you compare. I mean MJ didn't have to do diddly (or just about) and the rerelease of Thriller still did amazingly well.

Every sales-related topic ends (or never does end until the new release) like this. It's pointless ^^ There is a number of reasons why the sales are as they are, and they are not bad at all considering everything. AC is doing good. It will not probably reach a million, but I doubt that AVEX has invested half the money they spent to promote A BEST 2, plus I almost did nothing to help either.
