i don't know the specific titles/terms .. but it's basically talking about how ayu's price in her commercials is actually dropping ..

according to japanese magazine 'gendai' .. this year ayumi's total income from commercials reached 350 million yen .. [about HK$24 850 000] ... and next year it will reach 500 million yen ... [about HK$35 500 000] ...

however .. her CD sales [especially singles] have dropped from the top/ highest of 1 million sales to an average of 300,000 ... in other words ... the income from commercials only makes up the loss in CD sales ...

><"

I Agree with Samurai Hamasaki and Bright Light. If she didnt release so many singles and had more breaks, people would like to hear her more. Maybe 1-2 singles a year would be good. Also if they maybe put more tracks on the singles to.

I think it's just that the "golden days of j-pop" are over. I mean, her singles still sell significantly more than most other artists'. Nobody is selling all that much anymore. Each year it just seems like the numbers drop and drop....

voltron is right.. it's not like Ayu is the only artist who sales are dropping. Ayu has still been hitting the top of the charts.. it's not like she slipped from released something at #1 to #25 or something.. her slaes are still significantly more than most other artists. It's a decline in the industry in general, one that has been going on for awhile.

Well I want it for the CD quality tracks and especially the booklets & obi's. The booklets are almost as fun as the CD's lol

The problem is being that the domestic fan base is decreasing despite the fact that ayu's becoming more popular internationally. While Japanese fans are still the majority who constantly support her CD sales, if they lost their interest (being unwilling to purchase her releases etc), then of course ayu's popularity in Japan will drop. This basic principle applies to most other singers as well, in other words, sadly to say, ayu's ruling era is gradually over just as what had happened to the past J-pop queen Namie Amuro before, and that's just a matter of time.

I think that's very true. She's only got a short time at the very top, just like other idols. People wanna see something new and flashy. But that doesn't mean that she won't be a top-selling artist. Moreover, if she reinvents something with her music or tries something different, the novelty might increase sales.

I think that she still has a few years of top popularity. Also, I don't think it's a matter of breaks between songs. Look at the 10 month break between Voyage and &... That was a long one and & still didn't hit the top and stay on top without little breaks. Either people are bored of ayu's music (I'm not, mind you) or they're into something new.

Indies bands are popular right now. Also, rock seems to be making a come-back right? Pornograffiti and such are at the top. I dunno. I think ayu can come back, she just has to do something a lil different. This new album might do it. Let's hope!!

I agree with you ppl... Ayu should slow down(3 singles, 3 remix album and one album in 6 months!!!)... She's getting so usual, actually ppl see her singles like "Oh another one, let's wait till her new album..." and she's on rush so she doesn't have time to crate new songs for an album, is the Memorial adress case, we're all fans but we can say that this year she's a little bit disturbed.... I love her new works but she MUST reduce her launchings... If she launches two or three singles a year ppl would get excited like "OMG her new single, she lauched her last one 6 month ago!!" It'd be awesome ppl!! I feel pity of her, 300,000 isn't a number for hamasaki's stuffs, at least 1million! =..)

Go Ayu!!!

300,000 is pretty good.. dont expect a singer to always sale 1million ...
