Most of the things you guys dislike are completely superficial. I'm appalled that you guys have the nerve to call yourselves fans. "Oh, her outfit is horrible, oh she's fat. Oh, her hair isn't long enough, her face looks weird" You're never satisfied are you? Now I know why I barely come to this forum. You're the most ungrateful and pessimistic fans i've ever seen.

If you're going to criticize something at least be mature about it. You're all looking like whiny little brats.

Anyway, my thoughts on the PV..

I thought it was great, so much better than her GUILTY pvs. The song is amazing and she did it justice. Her dancing really has improved hasn't it?

Personally I thought it was really cool and the choreography (and the martial arts) were amazing. I loved how the "Ayumi Hamasaki" was in fiery letters. I just need to dl it in high-quality now. This is definetely the best video she's released in a while. Sure, I laughed at the little animated bird and the scene where she's all 'fierce' like Mirrorcle World, but man, Shuya is hot? omg. *****es don't know ****.

Yeah, I agree! That's so stupid. Sometimes I think people get too caught up in the whole looks aspect of it all that they expect Ayu to not look like a perfect little doll all of the time- in other words a hot mess?

And a lot of people complaining and thinking that their opinions are worth something have probably never directed/edited/choreographed a video in their lives, so like I said, *****es don't know ****. Redundant.

Ahhhh, my apologies! Sorry but I have the habit of slapping 'photoshopped' to any thing that looks fake... Oops. But yeah it could be make up, but they look so unnatural! I mean I think all their eyes are 'Asian' after all (not like eyes should have any race but oh well)... I just felt so creeped out when I saw Zin. His eyes are scary...

Anyway I like it.
I love the settings, and the choreography. That PV has a meaning, isn't so random as some says O__o' and it fits well with the song.
My favourite part is when boys dances, was really great!

But I dislike some things;

Ayu JEWEL alike. I don't get it.. seriously O_o I prefer more a dark version of part of Me.
Some dances, are really awful
The little blue bird's animation. Lol looks so awkward when it fly =___=

That is so true man. The complaints about the lights, the outfits, the theme of the video, the dancers, the choreography, the "lack" of a subject, the blue bird, etc, is just laughable. But that doesn't matter in the end, i mean, i couldn't care less about what some negative fans say . and if they wanna complain and get bitter about the way Ayumi choosed to express herself, it's their problem, not ours.

Truth is the video was made according to the song, the tie in cm and Ayumi looks astonishing in the video.

The only important thing here is, you, me and many other fans love her new material. i cannot compliment the video more. I really really loved Rule pv and i think it's beautiful. I especially enjoyed the symbol of the bird (which is Ayumi herself) and the duality between a harsh, strong/ sweet, morbid Ayumi. i absolutely loved that combination.

Exactly. Whats wrong with not liking her outfit? I didn't see anyone call Ayu fat, just pointing out the obvious that those kinds of outfits tend to make people look wide unless you have a very curvy body to begin with. Ayu is not fat by any means, but the outfit does make her look wider than she actually is.
Are people not even allowed to give constructive negative opinions here without getting attacked? Are people really that insecure in their own fandom to have to attack anyone's opinion that might be negative and doesn't go along with their own?

And its also laughable to say that people who don't like the outfit are too image obsessed when most of the people here are saying that they love the PV because she looks hot. (yet somehow, that doesn't make those people image obsessed too.)

Also, why is a positive opinion seemingly more valuable? To quote an earlier post - I'm sure they have never "directed/edited/choreographed a video in their lives" either.

I'm seeing another pattern or circle starting again; criticizing the criticisms of other people's criticisms that criticizes criticisms.

One of the best ways to avoid other people criticizing your comment is to list what you think is good and bad about the PV. You acknowledge both sides, you didn't simply say its all bad since that would make you look closed-minded or biased, and you didn't simply say its all good since that would also make you look close-minded or biased. It doesn't matter if you think the PV is good or not, it's how you show it. Several people done this well while others made their opinion so short and simple that you can't tell if he or she is being fair in his or her judgement or that's just they way they are.

For me, I enjoyed the PV because it looks fancy, which is reminiscent to Startin'. But even though it is a fun PV (and was meant to be just a fun PV), I probably won't watch it again. I wanted to see longer and better dancing. Yet, I'm well aware that Ayu was never much of a dancer so I never expected much in that department (I'm not talking about her dancers, just her as a dancer). If I look at other artists like Britney Spears, at least her dancing in some of her PVs are more coordinated and complex. I do like the outfit because it is new and fits the theme well (she could have wore some sports bra but that wouldn't be original). I tend to respect people trying new things. As for the symbolism, I actually didn't pay attention to them because I just wanted eye candy. For all I care, the bird should have burn in hell in the beginning so I didn't have to see it for the rest of the PV. ^_^;

I'm not trying to be mean by asking this, because I seriously want to know.

What makes Rule so boring? And what would have made it more interesting?
I just don't see the point of view of the people who feel this way....
Because in my eyes, the PV was really good. I think it served it's purpose. I don't want to seem like a crazy fan who loves everything she ***** out but I honestly don't find anything wrong with this PV...

You know what's funny, going through the thread, you can see a clear division between what types of members have certain opinions...not to be elitist or anything. But it seems to me, that a lot of the newer members here are still in that phase where they like almost everything she does and she never does any wrong. But that might be a little offensive to say, so sorry.

@ArchangelLegend: That's true. I wish there were more people who would properly acknowledge the good and bad sides to things. Nothing is perfect, not even Ayu's music and PVs. This PV actually desperately needs criticism from more level headed people, because it's kind of 50/50 on the good and the bad imo.

I don't usually get caught up in this stuff because it's quite obvious how black and white people make it but I think you're being a little bit of a brat.

There are several people here who are artistically inclined and have an eye for visual beauty. If something doesn't trigger with them they aren't (female dogs) but they probably do not know any feces... nor would they want to, I would imagine.

People may not have the ability to choreograph or direct or visualize a music video but as the consumer, to which the product is aimed at, they aren't expected to just like it. Maybe you should accept that fact, just like those who know you love it have accepted that.

I think that everyone's opinion here is valid unless they come across as an arrogant brat.

To the person that said it's all superficial judging. It's a Promotional Video. It is superficial. It's something to help sell the single using visuals.

I have to agree with sparkle_glitter on some of the things s/he said. There are people here who are NEVER happy with ANYTHING she does. They just seem to come here to complain about her, which gets obnoxious. Was it her worst PV? By all means no. Does it really need to be slammed so hard?

Sure there were things that could have been done better, but hell, it was better than flying to New York to walk around under a bridge, or wasting money to use Shanghai to spend a good two thirds of the PV in a studio. God forbid she make another PV where she goes to Paris and barely captures ANY of the Parisian atmosphere, other than a cropping of the Eiffel Tower that could have been added with photoshop and it would have looked just as good.

There's nothing wrong with pointing out what's wrong with a video, but just saying "It was horrible, everything was wrong rawr" is uncalled for, people who do that need to get off their high horses. What PVs have YOU made recently?

Everything has it's highs and it's lows, every video she's done has had flaws and positives. She may not be the "can do no wrong" princess that most fans think she is at the start, but she's certainly far from making horrible videos.

Wow, very mixed views here.

I actually quite like this PV. I think it's quite fitting to the Dragonball-type of theme. And I really like Ayu's hair in this (it's the style that I wanted ^_^). I enjoyed the dancing, I thought it fitted to the timing of the music quite well. It's not my absolute favourite PV, but it was enjoyable...

And for those who didn't like this PV, don't worry, Ayu has many PV's, so if you think this one isn't to your taste, you can always watch other ones of hers ^_^
