Thanks for your suggestions. I change the first two lines like this. Lately you may not be able to find your rhythm, somehow You may feel you are uncool As for the other part, how about this? You may wonder if this is an adult And what you often imagined in your childhood or You may wonder, "Is this an adult? Is this what I often imagined in my childhood?" And do you think "when you were a child" is preferable to "in your childhood"? To jon the d Dakara tte wake ja naku te Nageyari nanka ja naku te Actually, these are the most difficult lines to translate, because the meaning is not so obvious even in the original Japanese lyrics. So here is my interpretation. She wants to give some advice to a person whose life isn't going well now. And before doing this she is saying these words. -- "I want to say something to you. But it's not because you are in bad situation just now." And I feel like changing the English word for 'nageyari'. How about this? But I say something to you, not because so I don't want you to be in resigned mood Last edited by devilayu; 6th April 2009 at 07:03 AM. |

I think this one sounds nicer
![]() Quote:
"Youth" has almost the same meaning, but covers a longer period of time, "a youth" can be aged from a child right up to a teenager or even early 20s. Would that word be more appropriate in context of the lyrics? |

masa, I'm not sure why she put the extra "E" with certainty, but the moment I saw the title, I really thought it was clever, because it made me feel like the word got energized with the extra E on caps: EnergizE. So I believe ayu did it mostly for imagery of the word with its meaning.
Thanks for the translation!

I expected a much happier song given the title but this one is a little more insightful than i expected. It's nice, i enjoy these kinds of lyrics. Thanks so much for the translation.

OK. I change the part like this. You may wonder, "Is this an adult? Is this what I often imagined in my childhood?" A person in his 20's is not called "kodomo". "kodomo" = "child". I think "youth" is not appropriate. Last edited by masa; 26th March 2009 at 12:50 PM. |

OMG .... it seems as if NEXT LEVEL was almost written about me... that is why us fans love Ayu so much, because she knows our pain and struggles and creates songs that we can relate and sympathize to.
