Has anyone noticed how hard it is to sing along to some Hikaru songs? I mean...Keep Tryin' totally kills me. How does she manage to sing that song live?!?! o.O

Well the trick with that song is that you have to know where to take your breaths because you only have specific small windows to do it or you won't be able to finish lines. Fast paced Chorus.

Utada created the song so of course she knows where to breath and stuff. She sounded good singing especially for it being an "end of the concert" song. Imagine her singing it at the beginning. It's already a beautiful performance. Would've been great.

^ Was it really the last song? Her stamina must be epic. She wasn't just singing it either she was bouncing around that stage as if she was gonna have a heart attack. I'm impressed.

I didn't find Be My Last so hard. But I've never heard that song before. ^_^

What makes Keep Tryin hard for me, is that there are VERY few places to breathe...especially in the middle when she has those two verses back to back. So hard. It's not impossible, no but can be difficult...especially if you're not used to holding out phrases without breathing every few notes.

Next time try singing Blue tell me where you get lol


I really try to forgive hikki's bad vocal performances...because I know how hard it is to sing her songs...even when she's not even doing stuff that requires a lot of range...then she's doing stuff like Keep Tryin where sometimes it's impossible to know when to breathe.

Or the last verse of Passion. I hate breathing at uh...what I call the "top" of the phrase which is actually in the middle of some lines...but sometimes it's just really hard to hold your breathe until the next breathing spot...when she sings this live, she takes a breath at the top...but I try not to, because I dont like it...

You know what's really fun? Watching Utada United, and singing all the songs with her...omg it's so tiring though lol

She said once that she doesn't pay much atention to her vocals while composing... so it's like "WTF!? WHY DID I COMPOSE THIS SO HARD TO SING?!" when she needs to sing

She got a sore throat on Utada United because of her alergies... You can even hear her voice starting to get bad in the english part of the concert

Another song to note would be "COLORS". She noted how hard that was to sing even in Studio when recording it. Said it had her huffing and puffing and she couldn't finish. Although she obviously got the hang of it because her lives of it back then were fantastic. This is why she probably slowed it down for Utada United.

And yeah, definitely "BLUE" as you said. I'm able to get through it but finishing out that last stretch is serious business. Back then I wanted her to sing it live. Not so much now. I think it's okay to go crazy with Non Single Album records that you'll never sing live.

COLORS is nice for me to sing...but I personally don't have the best range...and the beginnings of the chorus verses I guess are high for me.

Blue is like death lol it's falsetto hell for me, so I just...dont sing it...or try not to...although it is good practice for keeping those high notes in tune.

hah has anyone ever tried singing kettobase!? Lol that one is crazy! it's fun.

Keep Tryin' is my favorite to sing ha ha. I'm not a good singer and don't focus on the trying to sound like her but it's just fun to sing along, especially at the end when she starts singing faster. Lol.

I remember her saying that one of her problems is not realizing how hard the songs are to sing until she goes into the studio to actually sing them lol. But yea, I think the majority of her songs are hard to sing. Keep Tryin' is a ***** -__- and friggin Prisoner of Love.

but i enjoy singing them... whenever i want to excercise my lungs... i usually sing LETTERS. LOL
