"why you liked Ayu?"
i really hate that question. really....
they (who knew nothing about ayu) asked that, not because they want to know about you or ayu
but they want to tease you. i really hate that

i usually say "because i love her honest lyric and her emotional performance"

then they asked me "you even don't understand japanese"
i answer "i always keeps ayu's lyric in my brain and in my heart"

if they don't like, just shut up, please no comment
that's what i think ^_^

Most of my friends are close minded about music. But some are kind of hypocritical about it.
I have one friend who loves Rammstein, but hates any music in Japanese. It's weird.

But I think I'd answer by explaining that it helps me learn Japanese. I don't think any one should be all... "Why do you like _____" it's a stupid question. xD

^ I think Rosie O' Donnel done that and I wasn't happy about it even Im not Chinese.
I understand how you feel.

If someone will ask why I do like Ayu, I'll reply this:
"I like her because of her lyrics, its meaningful and not shallow."
If they responded "Did you even know Japanese?" or "Do you know what she said?"

"Yes, I studying it"

"Ah okay..."

Or sometimes they judge her below the belt and I end up arguing.

Some people around me was close minded on Asian Music especially Jpop.
I couldn't blame it but I accept that's the way it is.

- I love her lyrics, cause are so touching and sincere, they are so emotional, and I want to feel something when listening to music
- she is so dedicated to her fans, and works a lot to make us happy
- for what I know reading her messages and what has happened to her in all these years, she has a personality that I admire, I love people who have qualities I haven't
- she sings well normally, her performances and PV's are freaking awesome (costumes, coreographies, stage...) and she sings different kinds of styles, and I love different kind of music, not only one!

These are the reasons I give normally, I say that these are qualities I admire in an artist and that Ayumi Hamasaki is the only one I've found with all these together and with much more power than others.

"Who's this?"
"Ayumi"
"No she's my girlfriend!"

lol. But I don't know... most people don't ask me WHY I like Ayu... they're more like, "Is this ayumi?"

Nobody has ever really asked me why I like Ayu. If I were asked, however, I would respond with something along the lines of explaining how her lyrics are incredibly deep and meaningful. Her performances are quite elaborate as well. Not so much her emotion she puts into performing (although that is important), but her sets are so elaborate! I always compare her concert styles and designs to someone simple. ...like Miley Cyrus. ...even though that's a BAD example lol

I hate it when someone ask me that, because I think it;s a stupid question... You listen to music simply because you like it... That's it, I don't see what else there is to it. Now, when someone ask how I started to like the music I like, or how I discovered this music that's a different question. I think it's kind of rude when people ask why though...

1) I love her lyrics. One teacher said to me "everyone can talk about politics, about economy, about social problems. The difference between one prepared person from someone who is not are the arguments and the concepts they use to explain why do they favor something" many performers talk about love. But they talk about it in a very average, shallow way so it can make it to the charts. Ayu doesn't. Ayu writes in a very poetic, deep manner. Her thoughts are usually very deep, product of a significant reflection.

1.1.- Ayu is a sensitive person. She speaks very honestly and she doesn't hesitate showing her pain. Usually, pop lyrics to me are shallow because they blab about nothing. She is not like that. Also, 'cause she is very sensitive and i am sensitive and Love is an important subject to me (like her) i can relate to her when she talks about love, happiness, or sadness.

2) I love her music. I've read in interviews she makes her music according to her lyrics, and what she tries to express. She does not make music thinking " holy s/hit; i gotta make music that everyone is going to hear" she is deeply influenced by rock and i love rock. She also loves orchestras and i love classical music, and though she doesn't exactly make classical music, the effect of the orchestra usually makes amazing results. Also, i love the fact that she is not afraid of experimenting and doesn't make music that "everyone is making" (ex: hip hip or r&b)just because everyone else is doing it. And the results of combining music to match the lyrics are usually amazing. I mean, she does great music.

3) i Love her image. sometimes she is kawaii, like a little girl, or maybe she will wear a super cute dress, or she'll dress in jeans and a t-shirt. or look fierce. But she always look good to me. she is soooooo fashionable and she's always trying and experimenting. She is creative in her style and in her music, in my opinion

4) and last but not least, i wrote before that she manages to be deep and marketable at the same time. that's a very rare atribute. but she manages to be both. She can write something amazing, and within the next minute she is looking great and setting trends with something she is wearing. And probably the best part of that, it the fact that is not something made up. I think she is truly herslef in all her phases, she is authentic. She manages to be a balanced artist with constrasts of deep/marketable cute/dark, you know what i mean.
THIS! hehe

That is why I love her, but I am usually too lazy to explain all of that to people They usually don't understand anyways

Yea I agree with Lanz16 as well,
That's the kind of answer I would give since I'm learning Japanese and the best method to close that kind of case

When they ask me I ask them "Why do you like (...)?"
Then they say "I enjoy his/her/their music."
And thats when I stare at them and they go "Oh..."

lmao at everyone for liking her lyrics. thats all you have to go by. she really doesn't do anything else besides write lyrics. lazy-ass what else is she doing, its not like she's touring 24/7/365. and the one time that she does compose music, everyone freaks out. "omg ayu just composed a new song! its her 5th overall!" I love ayu and everything, but theres not much you can go by besides her lyrics if your strictly talking about what she herself has done.
