Oh, I don't know if this should count, but I really like the cover of "Roxanne" (originally by The Police) in the movie Moulin Rouge! It's sooooooo good.

Baaahhh... faaar too many covers are better than the originals to me.

here...
http://mentalmadness.de/index.php?se...s&lang=eng&ID=
Pretty much any of those covers are better than the originals for me... (not all of the songs on the link are covers, but for those that are (and of those that I have), they're better than the orignals for me)

And the whole SUPER EUROBEAT VOL. 193 album... yeah

And I second Ayu's sweetbox covers and Utada's cover of Boulevard Of Broken Dreams. And also Utada's covers of With Or Without you and Take On Me.

On a slight off-topic note, who thisnk's that dream's cover of M was better than Ayu's? I don't think anyone here would, but it worth asking...
And who thinks Ayu should do a cover album? hhhmmmm??? anyone?

[edit] decided that instead of giving you a link with a giant list of releases, I should at least mention some of them. soooo, covers that are better than the originals to me...

Missy Stylez-Bleeding Love
De-Grees-Just Dance
Mad Flush-Let Me Be Myself
Andrew Spencer vs. LAZARD-Here Without You
Jan Wayne vs. RainDropz!-Numb
Ultra Flirt-Heaven Is a Place on Earth
Niko-Livin' On a Prayer (yeah, yeah... all you Bon Jovi Fans can hate me...)
Niko-Night Of Fire
Cherry-Dear My Friend
Helen-Future World

The albums EXIT TRANCE PRESENTS TranceMaster (1, 2, and 3), Eurobeat Disney (1,2, and 3), HOUSE * DISNEY

And there's a whole bunch more, but I guess you could call the ones in this list the ones I like more...

Mariah Carey - Without You
Mariah Carey - Against All Odds
Hitomi Shimatani - Papillon (Janet Jackson - Doesn't Really Matter)
Moulin Rouge - Your Song (I love it because of the production, it's like an orchestra version!)

I agree with these, but I also love the originals, bar Over the Hills, but I also LOOOOOOOOOOVE Fiona Apple's version of Sally's Song. <3

I actually prefer Gackt's cover of Love by John Lennon...

Also, I really love Ami Suzuki's version of potential breakup song. <3

not covers. they just featured small samples of the originals in the background.

Which cover is better than the original?

Speaking of The Beatles, I think Joe Cocker's With A Little Help From My Friends was waaaaay better and more heartfelt than the original.

First... I like Miley Cyrus... she is pretty awesome for someone her age and owns most jpop at performing... Don't like most of her songs cuz IMO she is very... teen orienteded... But she is only 16, so, can't expect much more...

Second... Namie's 60s70s80s aren't covers, the songs only samples famous songs from other singers... and Wishing on the same star is not a cover, the songwriter just sold the song for a lot of people...

Third... Utada > Green Day xD

It's funny you say that, I cannot stand the across the universe soundtrack.

I LOVE cover songs, but honestly a lot of them should NEVER be done. Ill talk about one cover I cannot stand. Everyone familiar with 'Bohemian rhapsody' by Queen? Every cover I have ever heard of it was UTTER FAILURE. I've heard maybe ONE cover fo the song I liked by Lucia Micarelli: http://www.imeem.com/artists/lucia_m...y-bonus-track/

but other than that....you just can't do that song correctly.

And to post about the 'sweet dreams are made of this' cover by Manson, I liked it a lot. He does some pretty neat coever songs...but I could also be biased cause I REALLY like Manson
