Sparkle sounds really awesome!!!
I can't wait to see the concert

I don't think she'll get better vocally.
AT05 was the best tour vocal vise in my opinion and now that she is half deaf I don't think she'll get better~

I think that the "problem" is that a lot of people might not like her singing nowadays because she sings on lower keys a lot of parts from songs that should be sang higher pitched. She does goes off pitch (mainly lower) here and there but still from those vids there were just small parts in 3 songs where she went off key to a lower one but still she sang well in most of this video. Just in her singing of nowadays.
She still can be great vocally (as she was in many songs on PCDL 08-09 and almost all of a-nation '09).

a-nation '09 was heavily and obviously edited, more than many DVDs, I think you can't really count that one, but it wasn't only for Ayu, most artists sounded pretty fishy, it was worst for Kuu

but I agree with the first part of your post, especially because I like her singing the songs lower more xD I hate voices that are highpitched all the way through, prefer people that stay low for the most part and go high for some short parts or single notes only

Yeah, her voice is getting worse. But, let's remember, in the tour DVD, no doubt, her vocals will be a little edited.

I actually love~ her lower voice. It's why I prefer her recent singing to the beginning of her career. Even if she screams every note for the rest of her career, it's still better than the squeaking of A Song for XX, lol. >.>'

Yeah, but she didn't just go deaf the past year. It's been a while now, but she just suddenly started screaming everything. :\

If the screaming is from being partially deaf (which it definitely could be), lessons - or more specifically, training - would definitely help. A teacher guiding her to practice her pitch and become much more familiar with the notes would assure her accuracy without the need to scream. Of course, she won't be able to ever sing again as if she still had 100% hearing, but she could get to the point where really only she would notice her loss of hearing.

Do they offer vocals lessons where thousands of fans scream in the background and the music is played at extremely loud volumes?
Kidding. I dont particularly think her voice is that bad and its certainly gotten better since 2008.
theres no doubting her TV lives (like for Music Station and such) are better than her arena tours, because there isnt as much noise and she isnt singing song after song.

I thought it also sounded pretty off-tune in parts of Days. Also Sparkle seems to - at the very least - have a very strong backing track going on. Evolution sounded quite a bit better than usual though.

That is true. I mentioned this before but, none of the artists in the A-Nation broadcast sounded even remotely like what they did in the tv news clips. It's obvious that Avex did their damndest to get everyone sounding as good as possible - afterall, A-Nation is a promotional tool for their company so they want everyone to sound as good as they can.

But I feel that her lower voice was way, way stronger in 03-05. Her vocals were pure love for me in that period.

Actually I've thought her tv lives have mostly been terrible lately. It seems she actually sings better in her tours overall - maybe because she has more time to get her voice warmed up to singing whereas with tv performances its just a one shot type of thing.

As for the vocal lessons thing - yes. For artists at her level, I'm sure teachers teach with the loud volume of concerts in mind. Heck even heavy metal singers often take vocal lessons and their environment is sonically louder than Ayu's is usually. There are a number of examples of singers who have hearing problems (usually rock singers) that have found ways to get around it. Even Brian Wilson, the main singer of the Beach Boys was completely deaf in one ear yet learned to sing in tune nearly all of the time. It's definitely not something that is impossible. It at least appears to me that she simply hasn't taken the time out to do it or if she has, she isn't following what the teacher says or she needs a new one.

ia. i do think she has improved, especially from last year. and i remember her saying in her diary entries that most of the time she can't even hear herself at all when she's on stage now, which could explain the shouting.

Well... vocal lessons would really help... but is not like... starting it today and singing flawlessly on the next week, those stuff take some time... it seens worst cuz it affected her voice for 2 tours... but she has one tour a year, while the usual for most singers would be a tour and 2, 3 years without touring...

Still, her voice is getting better compared to last year...

I don't recall that diary entry for some reason.

There is some performances where it has been highly suspected, maybe even confirmed.

But in this one it sounds just like a backing track to me so that she is more free to do the "woah yeah" parts.

singing without listening to yourself is 100% chance of disaster @_@

^ She should at least have an in ear monitors though.(it appears that she does) Plus I don't really remember that statement or it could be a mistranslation as often happens with her crazy diary entries.

I don't think her TV lives have ever been better than her tour lives. There are only a handful of TV lives that really demonstrate good vocals imo. I feel a bit bad for Ayu since almost every time she sounds good, someone comes in to say that it's probably been edited/backing track'd up the wazoo.

the most recent one was sometime in September (i think?) where she was mentioning her Rule performance at a-nation, and she said she couldn't hear anything at all. i do recall her saying things like that at the beginning of the NL tour too
