It doesn't suprise me one bit at someone not knowing who Dolly Parton is... Partino, you kind of made it sound like ignorance, which is kind of mean. It's not like she's had a hit in the last decade or two... Barbara too for that matter.

Whitney Houston of course. Such a great emotional and musical build up. I think Dolly even mentioned that she prefers Whitney's version.

I have to agree. Like, I know who Dolly Parton is because I live in America and everyone here knows about her big nose and atrocious boob jobs, but I seriously could not name a single song she has sung. She isn't even close to being on the same level as Whitney, or even Barbra for that matter.

Dolly Parton. Possible to sing along too. Plus, Whitney just did it for a film. It's Dolly's song so all emotions were real.

I'm not a fan of Dolly myself, but I remember this song(IWALY) from a performance with Melissa and I like it because of that so... I voted for Dolly

no offence, i didn't want to sound mean or even be mean. it just kinda surprised me, cause she had a hit in 2005 When I Get Where I'm Going and Those Were The Days was also a hit album [#9 Country and #35 UK charts] and is still the country icon. sorry if i did say some mean things. it was not my intension to offence somebody.

Dolly Parton is an american country singer-songwriter (she wrote IWALU, btw), and is one of the biggest female country stars on USA, called often "The queen of country music" Maybe some can know her as "aunt Dolly" from Hanna Montana show :B |

WH all the way. That song is amazing. Too bad her voice is gone. I'm not loving her new lives.

As much as like Whitney, I prefer the simplicity of Dolly's version. That whisper before she goes into the last chorus really puts emotion into the song.

Dolly parton's version is wonderfull... which is why i voted for her. I will say that Huston's version seems to have stronger vocals to me...

I think the strong vocals in Whitney's Version made the song.
I give Dolly total props for making the song and singing it beautifully, but I really think the emotion and power in Whitney's voice, and also the arrangement they made for it, which also exudes so much emotion, really made the song a million times better. The slight melody changes in Whitney's version also made the song on a whole a lot stronger. I wish there was like an orchestra version of the song with Whitney.
