^^ If you put it that way, it does sound like good advice. But I think it's rude when people kind of... categorize you into a group of "people who like nothing about recent Ayu", which a lot of members seem to do. I mean, I'd think that most of the people who don't like as much of her recent works stick around because they obviously care about her a lot... So it seems rude, for lack of a better word, to tell someone to just give up on someone they care about because they're disappointed for a year or two.

I think most people just have a problem with those who are repeatedly disappointed in her work and how they go about showing it because it tends to go a lot like this:
-X single is released- "This is garbage! Why did Ayu even allow this to be released? She can do better and we know it. -X single is released- "I was hoping this was going to be better but it's worse! Why doesn't she just create a new -insert popular/fan favorite song title here-? That would probably excite me again." -X album is released- "You know, there is a track or two that is kind of okay, but the rest is absolutely terrible. Especially those singles." -X live DVD/TV broadcast comes out- "Her voice is getting worse each and every year and she needs to stop recycling. You're boring me, Ayu! I only skimmed through about half of it and I can't watch any more because her tacky costumes along with her dancers' flailing make me sick." -X single is released- "Unoriginal and fails to impress me. She should just retire now so we don't have to listen to this trash. Or better yet, her #1 streak should end as soon as possible so she can stop putting out this mediocre music! Maybe that'll give her a slap in the face." Lather. Rinse. Repeat. Do you kind of see why people think "letting go" of Ayu for a while might be the best solution? I know that not everyone who feels let down by Ayu says those things, but for the most part, that's what I've seen in the last few years. Sometimes I feel out of touch with Ayu, but when that happens I tend to disappear from the forums and not say anything, since there's no reason for me to, really. If you feel frustrated and it's been like that for a while, just try pulling back on the Ayu, don't visit AHS' Ayu portion of the forum and (maybe) avoid stating your dissatisfaction every single time something new is released? I know it's a bit rude to ask since forums are all about discussion and opinions, but I think that for some, each and every release is simply a new opportunity to talk about how Ayu was better before (whenever that before is) and that she's completely sucking now because she simply isn't capable of producing original tracks like "back then".

^Some people like to give their thoughts on stuff as it comes out? What?
That's what the forum is for? Is it their fault if they don't like it? Do you think they want to not like it? I mean if it's like really rude you know...like...um Im just gonna say the name, like Luv Venus used to be, that's different. But people tend to say crap about people who say they just didn't like outfits or vocals. And even when like her vocals are clearly off or something. I mean wth. And if they're being rude, then criticize them for that, not for disliking it. And about the break, I don't know. I tend to follow like every release an artist I really like comes out with. Doesn't mean I'm going to listen to it for a long period of time....but I still follow, and the forums are really helpful.

True, but I have this feeling that some people who are not necessarily here at AHS, simply don't like Ayu (and will probably never like her again) and yet continue to still comment on her works acting as though they're some sort of let down fan, you know?
I'm not against people saying what they feel about her works, but I think there's a point where after a few years of continually being let down and disliking just about 99% of what's being put out, you have to step back and maybe take a break. It's as though someone who has grown to completely hate what they once loved is simply sticking around because they feel that they need to be there to "bring another opinion to the table" when it's obvious that they aren't even the least bit interested in finding something positive about it. I guess seeing a few (VERY FEW) people say things that are just completely unnecessary about her work and that's all they have to say, I question whether or not they're just trolling. And those are the people that I'm talking about. The ones who never seem to have anything remotely positive to say about Ayu, not people who are simply pointing out some problems they have with her work.

Why can't it just be...
If you don't like Ayu, go away If you like Ayu, you can stay If you have a compliment/complaint, state it politely. Respect and be mature about each others opinions no matter how much they differ. /end. Simple as that.

^ I don't see what people who dislike her would be doing on her forum, fan page or even last.fm page for that matter. I pretty much agree with what th said, there are times I also feel "disconnected" but those are usually the times I have something else on my mind and simply have other things to worry about xD those are the times I don't post as often and just read the news xD |

I honestly think it's been getting better now that we got rid of a few people. No body ever really says anything THAT horrible against Ayu. Yeah, it's annoying to hear the same disappointments over and over again, but as long as people aren't being derogatory against Ayu, it doesn't bother me. I do kind of wish people could be more understanding toward her new music sometimes, but there's nothing anyone can do if somebody doesn't like something so why blow an blood vessel over it?

, but based on who she is as an artist I think I can say certainly that it's no use waiting for such a song.. ![]() Quote:
;; ) she once again opened my eyes to many things and I started enjoying life's brighter sides more. xD Maybe that's one of the reasons why I can now say that I don't understand a person who clings onto something that keeps dissappointing and annoying all the time.I know it's not your point, but I think I can say that there have been a few of such people too. Who've for some reason went from fandom to totally despising her and wanted her to fail. Gladly those people are usually quickly gone though.

^Well... Ayu is an artist that creates stuff mainly based on dance, rock and classical music... This is her, and even if she releases anything different from this, most of the time there are those genres' elements on it...
Namie always had a sexy image, always released music she could dance to and always had heavy western pop influence, far more than most top jpop stars until Hikki, Mai K and Koda... Both are doing the same they always did... But I confess I would love to see how would Ayu do a song about sex! |

She's been on the top for years now, and maybe a little threat to her #1 streak would give her a bit of incentive to produce original tracks like "back then". But back then, she wrote for herself and the issues in her life. Now I don't really think she has much to worry over with her newfound confidence and wealth. I've seen artists in general do some of their best work when they were depressed, getting over something, experienced great loss, or greatly inspired. Maybe she needs inspiration somewhere and not just a deadline. Because honestly, looking at some of her lyrics now--I've seen them before. I shouldn't have to stop commenting just because someone doesn't like my differing opinion. It wouldn't be fair. Isn't this a forum for open discussion? Not everyone is going to like the same thing and have the same opinions. njanjayrp If I'm not satisfied with something, I don't just sit idely. I'm just not that type of person. I don't dislike her, I'm just not satisfied with her work as of late. njanjayrp Um, no. Ayumi doing "urban" music is just. I mean NOTHING from NOTHING was just bad, I couldn't listen past the first run through of the album. I'm not surprised it didn't do too well. The sexy bit she'd have to work on, only because I was so used to seeing the "cute" Ayu persona for all those years. When she did the Wacoal ad, I was shocked. I hadn't really noticed her boobs so much before. It was as if she'd grown overnight, and now they're so apparent. Being a fan since '01, I view her as simply: a pop star. She is dubbed the Queen of Jpop, not pop-rock, "rock", hip-pop, or anything else. Even now that she has more rock influences in her music, she's still pop. If she's the queen of Jpop, who's the King?

You know what an opinion is right? Yeah, I seriously think Ayu lurks around on English forums trying to gauge everyone's opinions for inspiration in her career. People are allowed to disuss freely how awesome they think one of her new releases are and it doesn't bother anyone. But the minute someone disagrees...

I don't want her to go all urban, I'm perfectly fine with what she is doing. Jpop isn't a genre of music, while you might say she is a "pop" artist that certainly doesn't completely reflect on the genre of the music she does. |

I know what a opinion is... but really, u put it like it would really matter for her career or something complaining about her releases here on AHS, what isn't really the case... When I dislike something she releases I just say "Don't like it", and that's it... I think it's strange when someone can't sleep at night cuz they disliked an ayu song or album (not saying this is ur case) |
