^ So was Seiko Matsuda and she was also known for not being a strong live vocalist...

I'm not taking my opinion as Japan's opinion, I just read more than once, that she was never seen as a strong vocalist (but she was, and wouldn't be surprised if she still is, seen as a good songwriter, composer, performer and fashion icon)
