I love namie and ayu, but ayu needs a break, she looks tired and she could back with one strong and catchy single, and sells much more in the future
RnRC is really great!!!! But the people is tired of her, perhaps........

Well i'm happy with her No.1 ^o^ Go ayu you can sells more in this weekend

And the thing is, people will often say Ayu isn't as fresh as she used to be and that she's 'no Goddess of the jpop world' or something like that, meaning they think its stupid for the people to like most of what she does, even now. But, you know, for some people, like me for example, her music will always be those things to me; fresh, and interesting and such. But this is naturally because Ayu is the only jpop artist I can actually stand to listen to this days, and because the rest of my music is heavy jrock bands. Because she's a female artist that's writing about the emotions that used to be so important to me, and touch me so much in the past.

Because of this, even though not everyone will like her work at all stages, to someone like me, she'll always stand out.

Does that make any sense? *tends to ramble*

Forgive me! I'm a writer, and I write my feelings too much -_-
I'll repeat... I agree completely
I can't say more than that... you took all the words xD

Well...what will we see today? hmmm... I hope more stable sells today ^^

Then why is it that some of japan's most popular actresses/actors nearly always have flop or lackluster music careers? This might come as a shock but if the general public truly doesn't like the music they will not purchase the album/single no matter whose name is on it and since when are only the sales of singles the best way to measure if someones music is popular or not...

sarcasm? i said promoted MORE. not that she isn't promoted at all. sure, she has promotion and it's decent, but it's nowhere near the amount of promotion she has had in the past and looks pathetic compared to the promotion some other artists in Japan get for their albums.

I would say that the theory of Ayu not getting #1 / not selling a lot of copies equaling Ayu "working harder" makes no sense whatsoever. Her motivation comes from the fans she has now, not from sales figures or Oricon rankings.

There aren't many artists that get more promo than Ayu does for her albums sorry and if there really are that many I'd be interested in hearing who they are. Chances are currently they are more popular than Ayu.

The Ayu in the past was also a lot bigger than she was today...investing that much promo into this album would be a waste of money. It makes me wonder if some people think Avex wants to see Ayu not do well I know how people love to make Avex the ~bAdGuyS~ but when it comes to making money and being successful they do not fool around especially in regards to Ayu...arguably the most important artist at Avex.

Yes her music is catchy but....im not gonna COPY THAT.

Namie's music is waaaaay too generic; so generic I actually can't have any sort of real feelings towards any of it. I mean I don't like it because I don't feel anything from it. It's just catchy stuff recorded to get things to sell well. Then there are loads of reasons I don't like her as an artist, but that's not the point of this discussion so I won't really go into it...

I guess that over the years, putting aside the economics all over the world, people really lost the relationship they had with the music of the past. It was music that made people cry, that touched them immediately because it suited their feelings perfectly. These days topics tend to be a lot more general and not the same way, and people these days don't quite look at those emotions the same way. These days...it's different.

Music like of certain other JPop artists is more popular in the world today, so when an artist releases an album that is greatly promoted, and the music is played everywhere, and it's music that's catchy and people can just dance to then people are going to take interest.

I think for emotional, powerful, moving music, people don't go to female Jpop artists very much anymore, like they used to in the past; a lot go to pop or rock bands, or enka singers or something like that. Somewhere along the line, things began to change and a lot of the artists showing up, even in the last five years, are the sorts of artists used to promote fun, cheerful, dance etc sort of music, with the occasional ballad for some diversity.
AGREED! While P<F was great imo, it died on me within a month. Maybe u can attribute it to me not being such a big Namie fan (i do love her music when they come out) but that is also because I really dont feel for some of her songs that she has. I think people nowadays really dont have the time and patience to listen to something that has emotion..it probably wears them down.

^ I totally agree with this and what AngelSenshi said.

I like to listen to fun catchy music because it's just that, good for when you wanna dance or something. But Ayu gives me so much more, and she has less serious songs as well. She is very well rounded.

Anyway, I think her sales are pretty good. WE don't really know how much it will do in the end though as it could have super longevity or something.

I'm not sure what all this "generic" talk is about, because I actually think that RNRC is quite a generic sounding album. Generic does not have to mean bad though. I think sometimes in music it is much better to be generic than to be all over the place.

But I don't think Sexy little things was "generic". That probably is the exception to me lol... maybe along with Don't look back too.

But hey, generic seems to be my favorites... people have been complaining that MY STORY is "generic" and it's my favorite Ayu album anyway

So I'm kinda over the fact of trying to force myself to "love" this album. I was listening to it while walking home from work today and I actually found myself thinking "God, hurry up with this song so I can move onto the next one" and then finally "Hurry up with listening to Rock'n'Roll Circus songs so I can listen to something else" - it's something I've never found myself thinking before. Wanting an Ayu song to end so I don't have to listen to it? I'm trying... I really am. But I think that this might be... my least favorite Ayu album... I still love you Ayu though

I'd like to say, Oricon is not the best "popularity test" ever,
And there are many people in Japan who have simply stopped caring about Oricon,
Dont base her popularity on her "bad sales" on Oricon,
Because she's been getting #1 album on iTunes,
And also she is a very high ranking artist on mu-mo, and other online stores.

I think those who say she is unpopular are greatly exaggerating the situation.
If she wasn't popular, she wouldn't be able to fill arena after arena in one concert tour...

I will never understand where the pessimism comes from in this forum.
