Ayu retiring? Hints in L lyrics.

You don't seem to realize that most of Ayu's lyrics are the same

She isn't retiring and -sorry- 'Virgin road' and 'count down' are bad examples or hints. Because Ayu stated in her twitter that 'Virgin road' is for her mom and like 'A Song for xx ~episode II~'. Further more we know that Ayu deals with her left ear defness in 'count down', what makes sence because of the lyrics "I hear some distant sound, You see? The end will begin soon, I'll accept it as it is, On my left side, I need no compassion".

And I don't get why 'Last Angel' should be a hint only because she repeats some of her old lyrics - I find it very interesting and would interpret it the way that she deals with feelings/problems from the past. But we can't know what she really thoughts when she was writing the lyrics.

Also 'Sweet Season' isn't a hint at all, because Ayu refers most of the time in her lyrics to someone only called 'you' or to her and someone only called 'we' or 'us'. All she only wants to tell with 'Sweet Season' could be the story of her and a friend.

this is weird, because I said the same when rumours about Gackt retiring came out...

sure one day they will prove to be real, but I doubt she's gonna leave music industry now.

besides interpretations stay just interpretations, unless the artist proves they are right.

i think because she's working herself so hard lately, she might take a break after she releases her next album though. she seems to be complaining a lot that she doesn't have time to sleep etc because she's working so hard. she's probably craving at least a little break.

This is probably the first time I've ever read something about this lol. I personally believe she won't retire, maybe she'll just have a break and then come back? I don't really see her retiring anytime soon. Of course I'm kind of worried about how this craziness will cause something on her health one day. She really should relax sometimes, but I know she probably won't.

I really think Ayu is sick of how Avex plays with her. She can't plan anything by herself, needs Avex approval for everything. Doubt she is going to retire. But prolly she'll get some time, idk how long (sure not much, knowing her).

As long as there are people that spend their money on her singles, albums, concert tickets, merchandise etc, I absolutely doubt that Avex would stop producing music with Ayu.

It's certainly a valid interpretation, but I would say that she probably isn't thinking of retiring anytime soon. Older songs like 'too late' and 'vogue' have a stronger "I'm on the verge of retiring" message, anyway.

I think it's ridiculous to look at the lyrics of Last Angel, and the references to her previous songs, and interpret it as: OH NOES, AYU MUST BE RETIRING SOON. It's her 50th single; she's already making references to her discography by putting the jackets of all her singles on the 1st press posters and the sticker sheets. It's pretty awesome that she keeps the references going and brings some of her best previous work back to make the whole song an homage to her career thus far.

I agree with you and I need to ask why doesn't she quit from avex and sign under Emi or Sony if she feels that annoyed? If she even is annoyed with this. If I felt so annoyed with avex (and trust me I sometimes do. That label is so weird lol) I would've said it's over and go find a better label for myself. But maybe Ayu just feels her team is her family and doesn't want to leave them because of that or something. We never know what goes on Ayu's mind.

She's been close to retiring for most fans since 2002.

IIRC, Memorial address was the first big one that had people thinking "Hey, I think she's gonna retire..."

And then each album since then has been a "Why doesn't she retire yet?" album for small groups of fans.

I'm pretty much sure she said that in some other words somewhere in 2004 when she decided not to participate in any big music awards thing or something. That's what I've read. I don't remember where I saw this but it was a official interview I think lol.

ayu is NOT the marionette of avex anymore, she will take a break in 2011, she said so in twitter.
