As long as there's no surprise newcomer, she shall be fine. B'z and Mr. Children are good examples for keeping long streaks.

But people will forget Seiko eventually. 20 years ago, Seiko was the greatest; today is Ayu is greatest... tomorrow someone else will be greatest.

For us, like young people like me --around 20s and 30s--, Ayu will always be Empress to us. Next generation will think another singer is better.

I think Ayu has more talent than seiko, but seiko is really a lot more prolific than Ayu. She has had 44 albums since 1979. That's a lot! I just don't like the crazy things Matsuda does these days... she's trying to be like super young again and I would rather see her really explore good themes for adults.

I doubt Seiko will ever be forgotten, but Ayu has surpassed her in everything, but the number of recorded albums and singles.

^ And there is still time for that
Both of them are amazing though, and will go down in history as two of the most popular and influential female artists ever.

yeah, thats ridiculous. I checked her discography, she ever released 3 albums in 1996 and 3 greatest hits albums. CRAZY.

ayu is doing constantly1 album every year.

Any way... history has no substitution... People are always added, but never take someone`s else place....

Seiko is a legend on her own, and so is Ayu... Nobody can change the impact Seiko had on the music industry, and nobody can chance the impact Ayu had...
