My story is a little strange, because I started being a very fan of Ayu 3 years ago, but I listened to her for the first time like 7 or 8 years ago, I don't remember. It was with "Dearest" and "No more words".

Since I was 10 or something like that, I used to like manga a lot. One of my favourite animes was Inuyasha, so I was listening to the ending, Dearest, every single day. Of course I didn't know who Ayumi Hamasaki was. When the movie of Inuyasha came out, I bought a manga magazine that came with a CD. That CD had the song "No more words" from the movie, and since then that was one of my favourite songs, I was playing it on my mp3 all the time, so even if I didn't listen to more music of her, I knew that "Ayumi Hamasaki" was the singer for that song. I think it was then when my subconscious started really to be an Ayumi Hamasaki fan xDD

But it was a few years after, when I saw the movie "Shinobi ~Heart under blade~", when I really started to listen to all ayu's music. The ending song, HEAVEN, made me fall in love with her. HEAVEN is my favourite song all over, and it was HEAVEN who made me download more music of her, and lately, buy it.

And from other songs of her... I must say that Who... has been the song that made me cry the most. When I first saw AT08, when she sung the song in chinese, and all that people crying... it moved me a lot. The same night I watched AT08 for the first time I watched also Dome Tour, and when she sung Who at the end, crying that way... that night I couldn't stop crying while listening to the song. Who does mean a lot for me.

And the last one is Daybreak HAL's mix. When I started listening to Ayu's music, I haven't download all the albums and of course I didn't know all her songs, but I don't know why somehow I watched the PV of daybreak, with english subtitles...
The minimalistic arrangement at the beggining of the song and the atmosphere on the pv really moved me. The fact that the pv was shooted without interruptions, and that she was really showing her feelings on the acting.. made me tear.

For a while, evolution was the song I would wake up to. Pumped me up every single morning.

Together when... came out exactly when my ex and I broke up. It was such a coincidence, and the lyrics were right on the target of what I was feeling. It was just really weird.

Because of You, is this LOVE?, HANABI ~episode II~
I listened to these three songs back to back after I fell in love with someone. That person never found out my true feelings, and that person was already dating someone lol. It sucked, but Ayu helped me a lot when that happened. (This year, actually)

STEP you - I remember when I first heard this song and watched the PV I was like "oh no.. I think I'm starting to like ayumi.." (used to be a hater biased kumi fan lol).. and I was like trying to make excuses on why it's so good and try to reassure myself that 99% of the time ayumi's no good by starting to listen to more songs and watching more PV's.. and that led me to love her way more than I ever loved kumi

Secret
I remember it was the last month of high school and I was SO nervous and depressed because I was scared I wouldn't pass the final test to graduate. I would just listen to this song on repeat and it helped relax me and gave me something to relate to at that time.

Sunset ~LOVE is ALL~
I was on vacation and went to the beach at sunset with my ipod and I just completely felt this song.. as I watched the sunset it fit the mood perfectly.

JEWEL
my first thoughts hearing this "wow.. is she an angel? this song is so pure and beautiful, I have never heard anything so beautiful in my life". I couldn't believe it when I first heard this song.. it's the first ballad I've listened to that made my jaw drop.

GUILTY
I remember not being that big of an ayu fan when the GUILTY album came out, I downloaded it and listened to it and just didn't like it, except for THIS song. the song GUILTY always stood out to me. it's the only song I kept from that album during that time.

Sunrise ~LOVE is ALL~
REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT! I just remember having this on repeat for like days after it leaked! It was soo addicting and perfect for summer.

Sexy little things
I remember having it on repeat for soo long too, it's so addicting and fun and I can never get tired of it. I also remember the PV surprising me and me watching it a ton of times and doing the cute little movements with ayu.

Right now, I remember 4 moments with Ayu songs hahaha

Trauma - It was the first time I listened Ayu. It was in a video about Concert Tour where Ayu shows the coreography. I immediately thought: "what a cute girl!". My friends and I tried to learn the coreo, and we danced it everywhere!

Endless sorrow - Right now, this is the most precious Ayu song for me. The story was 2 years ago. A friend called me very late from a disco. When I answered the phone He only screamed: "Ayuu!! It's Ayuu!! Endless sorrow!!!" It was a remix, obviously xD Every time I listened the song I remembered my friend. Now, he's my boyfriend and Endless sorrow is "our song" ^^

Talkin' 2 myself - Basically, I fell in love with Ayu thanks to this song. I mean, I liked Ayu and I listened most of her cds, but when I listened this song, I thought: "this woman is God" and I started to follow her hahaha

My story CD - I remembered this cd because after Trauma it was the first cd I listened. My friend and I usually listened it in her car and we had so much fun singing and screaming XDD

SEASONS because it marks the first time i saw ayu and also the first time i saw her PV. but i didn't know who she was (or HEY HEY HEY for that matter!) and was i was amazed to see this PV at the top for how many weeks... too bad googling SEASONS doesn't give much and they had her name only in Japanese characters T__T

M was the other song of ayu's i discovered but still like SEASONS i didn't know who she was. i didn't see the PV for this but saw it first on what i think was HEY HEY HEY's christmas special where she appeared in a HUGE RED dress xD... and so i tried searching for ayu again googling "red dress M song" and really couldn't find anything. FYI this was before the YouTube era and even before streaming mp3's so looking online for the performance or song was a hard feat if you didn't know how to type in Japanese!!

evolution was HILARIOUS because it came out during the time when i discovered Divine Ayu and finally all my questions were answered! i had been on an ayu (as well as J-Pop) craze and loved that you could find instrumentals for her songs... the memory i have with evolution is one day just me and my friends listening to her and trying to read the chorus as we sing along... of course now i can sing the lyrics to ayu's fast lyrics like evolution and flower garden, but back then it was more of "kono hoshi ni ulalalalalalala kitto nan da lalalalalalaa!" xD then the same could be said about ourselves because and i remember going to school excited that i can finally sing the chorus haha

and i agree with miki_beland and the Daybreak remix makes me think of the PV. and although it's just bright and dark over and over again i remember watching it for the first time and thinking how beautiful she looks and how well the PV matches the song... just calming and getting brighter when the loud chorus comes in!

teddy bear and Memorial address are also special and i have stories connected with them as well.

July 1st is probably my theme song
"If it's sunny tomorrow,
I will go to the sea,
turning yesterday's shed tears into kindness."
Sorry to make this ultra-personal, but I had OCD pretty bad in high school, always anxious, always worrying about everything and nothing. This song helped me feel a little better, like you have to keep going to get to that sunny day, it's gonna come! I feel that way about a lot of her songs but this one particular is special to me.

Anytime anyone asks me about a song that relates to my life, I'll always say:
Ayumi Hamasaki - Life.
It describes my feelings and thoughts in a few simple sentences, and is supported by a relaxing melody that could easily become a theme if lives had soundtracks.

A japanese penpal sent me a link to her own little website (or blog) in 2003 I think. There also was a picture of Ayu, saying "She's so famous" etc. But I didn't care at all at that time.

End of 2004 or early 2005 (can't really remember), it was the time between MY STORY era and the beginning of (miss)understood singles, announcing the upcoming album with STEP you/is this LOVE?, I discovered YouTube which was pretty new to the internet.

First songs I discovered then on YouTube were YOU ''Aggressive Mix'', forgiveness, GAME and is this LOVE?. I think 1 and a half year later, I finally had her complete discography.

GAME, forgiveness and especially is this LOVE? are still the most special songs for me. The feelings back then were fantastic. Nowadays it's different but I still remember how I felt listening to these songs.

For me... I have a few awkward moments.

Love 'n' Hate: I always play it on my walks to school. It just gets me pumped and excited... Then I think "Oh wait. I'm headed for school".

Curtain Call: The song makes me giggle. I don't know why. I'm fair sure that wasn't the response Ayu wanted... But it makes me giggle.

Beautiful Fighters: I play this song every time I'm eating at MacDonalds.

Depend on You: My friend and I wanted to make up a dance, so I showed her this song. We made up a dance to it. It was great. Peko would be proud.
