aha..I was thinking about that a few weeks ago, since it'd make people laugh, plus it'd give a reason for why we're Ayu fans

Ayu's songs are great dance music. I like how her style changes over time. Most of her songs have something unique in them. Even if I don't like the original mix I can find a remix I love.

Even though I can't really understand what she's saying at all, Ayu has such a unique voice that she's able to transend her emotions into her voice. Sometimes you don't even need to understand the words to understand the feeling and mood. Then, when I do come to find out the true meaning of the lyrics, I'm constantly blown away by the depth and power behind them.

I didn't start liking Ayu because of the Avex merchandising soul eaters, or the pretty pictures of her. I heard a song, liked the song, then read the lyrics and was moved so emotionally that I haven't looked back. Ayu is really the only Japanese artist I like, because I do like to understand what ideas are being sent through the words in a song. Sometimes, however, with Ayu I don't really need to understand the words to feel the emotion.

Reguardless of talent or authenticity, she is a truely powerful poet who transends time with her words. This is why I listen to Ayu.

As for me, I was introduced to ayu by reading her lyrics first. Then, I bought her CD. So, I'm probably in the minority. I read the lyrics of "immature" and found them quite curious. Like a puzzle. Just what was she referring to in space X, Y, and Z? I didn't know who wrote lyrics like that for pop music. Why was it so desperate yet hopeful?

When I first heard it, I really liked her voice. If I had to pick something that had me hooked, it would be her voice, hands down. It was so clear and clean. Sure it was nasally, but that's quite common. More than anything, it was the emotion she put into the songs. I remember listening to "Fly High" for the first time and thinking, "wow... how does she do that?" It was a really interesting experience.

But I look for lyrical quality first and foremost in music. Ayu has the most skilled lyrics... She and Onitsuka Chihiro are my favourite lyricists and both are leaps and bounds beyond anyone else I've encountered. No one else comes close, in my eyes.

When I was first introduced to Ayu--not the self-described "product" called Hamasaki Ayumi--it was during her first concert. 2000's dai1maku had a great MC time where Ayu explained that she wanted people to see her for who she was. They could make their own conclusions, but she wanted to be there in front of them so that the fans weren't reading about who this Hamasaki Ayumi was. She wanted to communicate to them what she was thinking. This is the most interesting part of Ayu, I think.

It's because of her use of lyrics to convey herself and work through her times of sadness and weakness that I like Hamasaki Ayumi. I am very dependent upon music to keep me going. When I first started listening to Ayu, I realized why she was so popular: it lied in the fact that she wasn't afraid to be sad. She wrote about solitude, disappointment, and so on. None of this fake "I love the world" stuff. Just honesty. Through her lyrics, I felt like I was connected with someone who could utter what I could not say. As a writer myself, I was very inspired and deeply touched. I couldn't understand how such a person, who was a self-admitted idol, could craft the most meaningful lyrics I'd ever read. And when she said some of those things, it really struck a chord in me.

I consider my thinking changed by listening to what she has to say. I try to live more at my own pace and not to expect so much of myself and the future. As she said in WE WISH, "What you wish for and what you expect are different things." I think it's true. I think I'm better for realizing it.

No matter what every time I listen to Ayu I won't get sick of it for hours, I don't know what it is about her. Her remixes rock and her voice is quite original in my opinion, and like I said in another post I think it's the music and the singing that's important, not the lyrics so listening to Japanese is much more entertaining, I can understand it, but only if I focus on the lyrics which I don't most of the time. To the point, I truely don't know why I love Ayu so much, but she continues to amaze me with her pop queen powers

Well when I first heard Ayu, it was really about the music. I listened to Free and Easy and I was just HOOKED and I read the lyrics which were so beautiful to me. Now I really love her lyrics which aren't your typical pop lyrics like "I love U!" or "i wanna be with u!" or "I live 2 be with U" etc. They are honest, they're deep and they're powerful. So I think I listan to Ayu because not only is the music awesome but the lyrics are incredibly meaningful. Also, her voice is really addictive!!

I have to honestly say I listen to Ayu because her music makes me happy. It touches something inside of me and holds onto it, makeing me feel so good. I like the music itself and the way it flows and the differne tinsturmentation used in all the songs. I like her voice and think she has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard. It's so distinct and as soon as you hear it you can tell it is Ayu singing. I like that in a vocalist. Since I don't know much Japanese besides a few words here and there I cannot say I understand a lot of what is being said, and I tend to forget translations, but the way she sings those lyrics puts so much feeling into a song that it makes them sound very emotional. Her trance music, too, is awsome. It's very gives each song a very different sound than the original mixes and gives me, as a listener, a different view on the song. I love Ayu's music very much. It makes me so proud and happy to be an Ayu fan. I listen to her everyday and I will continue to listen to her for a long time. She has touched me deeply through her music and helped me through some rough times and I also idolize her as a person and that is very inportant to me.

I'm sorry this is so long and drawn out. It's just my true feelings.

Kay
