Why is "monochrome" so underrated ?

honestly? I'm not a big fan of her earlier stuff, i'm not fancying her voice in old songs at all... I find monochrome monotonous, after a minute I totally lost focus on the song and didn't hear it anymore....

For example I totally adore Moon, a big amount of the people on here find it borring...
I think it's kinda useless to have these threads because hey this is a huge community and we all have different likes and our own dislikes even in Ayu's music. Just my 2 cents though...

I love Moon too ... But I just wanted to have the community's point of view ... or if I was the only one to feel that way.

And let's face it : most of the threads in the Chat room are "useless", as you say. This one is not more useless than others about her nose jobs :-)

monochrome is very special because it's hard to define it ... it's a ballad (kind of) but with a special beat. Also, the arrangement is "cold" (don't know how to express that), while it's about summer.

^ Totally understand what you mean by "cold"--I feel like a lot of the songs on LOVEppears have a very cold undertone, which really stands out to me.

I always thought the guy said "give me a break" or "yeah right", drops the tape on the floor, opens the door and then storms off, haha. I have honestly found this part to be really funny... guess I'm alone on that :X

I have always really liked monochrome. The way she sings the song ties in with the instrumental so well. I have always thought that everyone loved it, since there is really nothing to hate about it. But I guess it is more of what you would call "forgotten".

i always caught "you're great" oh oh I can't understand why they don't write the english parts on the lyrics

This gives me a question, i have a mp3 of Memorial Adress and before the songs starts someone is talking and it sounds just like the guy at the end of monochrome...i always thought it's just a bad rip and someone put a recording in it. So does this also belong to the song?

This is one of the reasons I don't like a lot of the track on LOVEppears, actually. It sounds very metallic to me. The only songs I really like on the album are And then, End roll, and TO BE. The others aren't bad, per se, but I think they're rather forgettable in comparison to a lot of her other stuff.

for me the cold voice fits very well with LOVEppears. Lyrics are not so 'yay happiness!' but pretty bittersweet. It's one of the most cohesive album she ever made. And that's why it's on my top 5 Ayu albums ever .

Nope, it is not a bad rip. It's part of the song, but due to my bad japanese skills I never get what he was saying . And I'm really curious about it.

However I love monochrome, but as someone already stated maybe it's not so catchy as Trauma. So people don't remember it.

I wouldn't if it just cut off and ended. but the fact that it basically almost has a story to it I like. A guy is listening to the song and he kind of gets annoyed with it and shuts it off and walks away. lol Like when she's singing about being strong and he's all like "This is a load of crap, yeah right...." *shuts it off and walks away.* lol

"monochrome" has been my no.1 favorite Ayu song since the first time I've heard it.

It's overrated because:

1. Ayu's vocal is irritating. (I believe there are plenty of people in here who hates her old voice.)
2. It's a forgotten song.
3. of the ending.

It's a song that is perfect-but-imperfect.
