I was quite shocked at this. I don't want this to happen to miwa or Sayuri Sugawara (some six years younger than her), and especially she's like some six-seven years younger than Ayu...

So, let's see...we lost X Japan's TAIJI like about a week ago, and now Amy Winehouse? That's quite sad.

Just found out now...Its so awful.

Breaks my heart that she couldnt overcome whatever was bringing her down.

Just....feel so much for what she was going through, I wish she would have gotten more help

R.I.P. Amy Winehouse

I wasn't a fan personally but I was familiar with her music & her infamous wild life style...I was shocked this morning when I heard the news but only because it's always hard for me to believe how someone can be here one day & gone the next. It's such a shame that she had to die so young...

To be honest, I'm feeling sorry for her family the most. I couldn't imagine how much awful for parents to lose a daughter is. Especially when she was so young (damn, she was just 4 years older than me).
But I'm not surprised by the news itself because it was kinda expected. I don't want to be mean, seriously but.. I've ever heard of her because she was drunk or high more than because of her music. And that's sick because she was pretty talented.

May she will rest in peace now.

What really bothers me about this is how everyone says that they're not surprised or they saw this coming... Its SO sad because I wish someone could have done something. I mean, its just terrible to say that you expect someone to self-destruct and die, but no one does anything. Maybe there was nothing that could be done. Its terrible.

They told her year ago the first time she OD'd or whatever that she need to stop drinking, smoking, and doing drugs or she will die because she was already having lung problems and she didn't listen.

@ohsixthirty, In my opinion, rehab only works when the person being admitted is wanting to overcome whatever they're addicted. So even though her parents and friends were and would support her attempts, it wouldn't make that ONE difference for her to change if she didn't want it. Maybe others feel the same?

Rest in peace, Amy.

Though I'm pretty sure they all knew that she was a risk to her own life, and when a person is like that they don't have to go to "rehab", but need to be locked up... Which could've saved her life.

I never cared for her music/voice and barely knew of her through the media, but this is still a sad event, especially for her fans and family. She had a horrible disease (addiction), but at least she's finally free from its demons and its cycle now.

So many people have said distasteful things, but I think its better to just ignore them.

I think its true that, you know, you cant help someone unless they want to change, but I think theres this very large grey area, where you have a person who very much wants to change, but cant seem to figure out how, and/or nothing really works for them...and I dont think people understand sometimes how easy it is to just, take a drug and escape...

I dont know exactly where Amy fits in the whole getting help for her addiction, and honestly, her having those lyrics is just ~ew~, who knows, maybe she didnt want help...

but that to me, is even more sad than her just being addicted...oh well, the world goes on, I guess, and people are still people. Its just all sad...

She finally got free from her prison. I can't imagine a life of constant hang overs, bad trips and craving just for an ephemeral moment of pleasure. Must be hell on earth.

I believe some people might have tried to do something, but well, addiction can be one of the hardest things to treat because first the person has to be willing to stop it. You can't intern someone who's conscious and able to be responsible about themselves (even though they are irresponsible lol) if they really don't feel like it, otherwise it would be a private imprisonment which is a crime in most countries, I believe. And willing to get treated and interned is just the very first step of a very complicated problem which includes enduring abstinence and resisting relapses for a very long time, as well as breaking bounds with bad influences, because those and many other factors can get the person back on the addiction cycle.

if she just went to the rehab, she would still alive and a song called rehab would not exist

It's my understanding that (at least since the song was made) she went to several rehabs...

I keep thinking about Amy's goddaughter, Dionne. She was so close to Amy and must absolutely devastated by her death

This is why I hate drugs... it destroys not only yourself but the relationships with those around you. A 10 year old girl that I counsel is currently dealing with her uncle (she totally idolizes him) going to rehab for drugs and she's completely crushed by the fact that she won't be able to see him for months. ::sigh::
