And then she decided she wasn't going to perform, but instead of performing, she reached an agreement with avex that she could keep her set list if she switched spots with THSK? Is that right?

I don't believe she was ever not going to perform, as that would just be unprofessional and quite un-Ayu-like.

- Fans do not react well to the addition of Urata to most of her set
- Setlist is changed slightly with Last angel at second concert
- Ayu is pressured to change setlist even more, but does not as Urata [and maybe JUNO as well] is being marginalized by avex
- Ayu decides to not perform last in Tokyo (perhaps due to the friction between avex and herself this time around... thinking it not really being appropriate to represent the finale of an avex summer event?)

The way it sounds to me is that she reached a decision on her own to not perform last due to lingering doubts in her head, hence "declining" to perform last not declining to perform. She'll probably be back to last next year, but it's still really depressing how this has affected her and probably stressed her out beyond belief in the last few months.

I am quite sure they did NOT want JUNO to perform with Ayu because JUNO is one of the brothers of JYJ member, who left Tohoshinki, so it would be bad taste to have him perform before or after THSK.

And the impression that I got is that she was forced to change the setlist, so she had no say... meaning she did bend to the pressure, but responded in another way - not being last.

I see. I don't think Ayu would have actually ended up not showing up on stage though... that would have been a serious blow to the thousands of people there to see her and probably would have caused even more drama backstage.

I wonder how JUNO ended up working with Ayu in the first place... did they ever really detail how they met and how Ayu wanted to collaborate with him? Urata was understandable since they've been 'big bro / lil sis' for a looonng time now but JUNO is and was still soooo random. Wasn't he working on Chinese material for a while or something and then all of a sudden Why... popped out?

Its hard to believe that they didn't want her to work with JUNO. Maybe its just all the backlash from fans. Did no Avex executive notice the uncanny resemblance to Xia when they signed JUNO up? Well, I hope JUNO and Nao were worth all the trouble! But I honestly wonder why they chose DBSK specifically to perform last.

I wonder though, is this unintentional advertising for the album? I mean, wouldn't people want to hear the songs that cost Ayu her spot in A-nation?

so it's not avex wanted ayu to get rid of the duets / the participation of Naoya on her setlist, but it's about getting JUNO out and i'm still wondering why so? he's still avex artist but why cut him out hmmM~ kinda weird here.
