Ayu also has amazing instrumentations ruined by crappy vocals and lyrics. Ther is no point here in comparing Ayu with Koda, because some Koda fans might get upset about it. I don't consider myself a big fan of Koda and I agree her last ballad sounded too similar to her previous ones, but is not like Ayu's last songs have been the most originals of her career

LOL @ the comparison between Kuu and Ayu.. both have their own strengths and weaknesses, okay?

it's way OFF TOPIC already..

anyway, i usually gonna complain about ayu's setlist for her tours which have the repeating songs, but for POWER of MUSIC, there's a difference because all of the old songs are rearranged and i'm so looking forward to it!

I can totally agree with the crappy vocals part, mainly before 2003...

But crappy lyrics? Ayu?

Ayu's instrumentation is far more richer and the multi-layered arrangements make it all worth while, while computer beats and piano bg music don't really do much for me. But it's all the matter of taste ultimately. It's not how similar, but how awfully boring and generic they are...stay with me X_X *ear bleed*
I agree she has a ton of similar sounding ballads in general, but her winter ballads specifically aren't really all that similar. At least, not to me. XD And I really don't listen to her ballads because I don't like them much generally speaking.

The new setlists just continue to utterly disappoint me. Where did all the great songs go? Like monochrome or the trilogy...? It's a first, but I'm not really that super excited about this tour anymore (since we seen many of the remaining songs quite some couple of times before).

^Yes. And naturally I'm excited to hear them! But if they had to cut down the setlist without any replacement songs, why not just skip some of the regulars and keep the ones we hardly see? But yeah, that's just my thought.

I second that.. but I think she wants to keep the same songs she sings every year because the japanese audience loves them.. I think, q

Are you serious? Kumi has been through a lot to get to the top. So what if her image has been more "sexualized" than Ayumi. In recent years, Ayu has become more sexualized too (well never to the extent of Kumi). I love Ku for that reason - I love her for her sexy image. She has songs that Ayu could never pull off and vice versa. (BE MY BABY and Driving = EPIC EPIC EPIC) (talkin' 2 myself / STEP you / JEWEL, etc... = amazement)

I will say yes sometimes her ballads are a tad boring but Ayu's stuff recently is just about the same (stay with me = You were... = Moon Crying = beloved = ai wo tomenaide). Let the girls be who they are. Both have successful careers, work nonstop, and really care for their fans. Thank God neither of them can be comparable to the current way Britney Spears's career is run.

I'm not a fan of her in the slightest, but still, don't you think that's a little too cold? She's got an overtly sexual image; big deal! I don't like that much sex in my music either but that's because I go to music for completely different reasons, but some people like it, and she should do what feels right to her too.

How her name got stuck in here anyway, I have no idea.

On the topic of Ayu and 'crappy lyrics' I have to disagree; I've yet to really find any of her lyrics 'crappy'. There are some songs with a much greater message or more intensity than others, where the lyrics seriously hit you, but I don't find the others crappy on their own either.

I'm upset certain songs got pulled from the setlist, but at the same time I'm interested a lot in the new arrangements so it's not too disappointing to me.

LOL @ the Koda stripper thing. She's also talented and writes lyrics sometimes. She's not as talented in writing as Ayu, but this is a hard thing to beat! haha

And I'm also disappointed with the changes in the tracklist... I mean, this show must be gorgeous, she should keep those songs she barely sings like monochrome.

I see where you come from. I am happy with the choice of songs but as well wonder why they cut songs without replacement. Maybe I am a bit biased because this was my first time attending an ayu concert, so I will always love this show and songs.
But I am sure there is a surprise coming up for the Saitama shows, which are the ones who will be recorded for DVD (=which we will see)!

I think that with costume changes...the time for the concert ends up becoming shorter due the time she has to go in and out...so

It's not worth it imho. The costumes are nothing special, and the original concept that ayu stayed on stage in the same costume for practically the whole thing was awesome.

Unless LIMITED EDITION is a replica of the original I can't help we lost out on something special

It depends what your personal preference is though. The original concept didn't do much for me, and I'm happy the show has been updated with costume changes and new music.

^Well the setlist havent been updated with so much new music. Only a couple of songs. On the other hand the new setlist have been like 4 songs shorter instead with the great (more unusal) songs being replaced with pretty much nothing. Also Ayu stated that the tour name POWER of MUSIC would show just how powerful music in itself is, without props and awesome costumes e.t.c. I'm not saying the tour totally have lost it's oroginal essence but I have lost some of it.
