It's nice to see that about 99% of the people here love JAPONESQUE

JAPONESQUE is now my favorite Kumi album

Anyway, I found Brave's lyrics so here's my translation:

Brave (translation)
Spoiler:
Brave

I’m spending my days
With a smile on my face as always
But I haven’t been able
To forget you even once

You’re smiling inside my heart even now

I hope I will run into you again
In my next life
Everlasting love, unshakable dreams
I love you more than anyone else
No matter how much time passes

“I’ll move on”
I talked big, but I’m stuck...
How much longer
Until I can accept a world without you?

I wanted to become the person dearest to you

Do you wish to run into me
And fall in love with me again in your next life?
Are you thinking of me?
Tell me one more time:
“There’s no turning back. We’ve begun.”

I realize that I have to live
Without you...
But I still love you today too
Because I continue to wish
That we’ll get back together someday

You gave me the strength to love
And the courage to start on my journey
But I can’t do this alone. It’s impossible alone
I’m not strong enough. I’m too weak
I wanted you to stay with me

I wanted you to stay with me

Brave (kanji)
Spoiler:

Don't understand the part after Lay Down though. XD

Going to listen to the whole album now. I'm excited!

Introduction: Beautiful! 5/5
So Nice: Wow, flows so well after the Introduction! Love even the chorus now. 5/5
Boom Boom Boys: Powerful vocals, great arrangement, something fresh from Kuu! 5/5
V.I.P: Like this version better than that on 4 TIMES. Yes, I like T-PAINs rap, it adds something. 3/5
Slow: Hm, it’s nice, but somehow it doesn’t click with me at once, bit too much autotune I guess. The verses and bridges are great though and I like Omarions voice really much.
I'm a bit sad he raps more, cause his voice sounds better singing. 4/5
Brave: Surprisingly nice. The chorus sounds great. Has the potential to become a little favourite of mine. 4/5
Everyday: So far the song I like the least, didn’t expect that.I like the chorus though. Next time, Hiro! 2,5/5
IN THE AIR: Still great! Gives such a warm and pleasent feeling. Just like the title says – Love is in the air. 5/5
You're not alone ~acoustic version~: I just love this version! *_*Ever since I heard it on a-nation. Arrangement and her voice are gorgeous. 5/5
Interlude: Nice! Not as good as the Intro for me, which is awesome, but still good. 4/5
ESCALATE: One of the best for me. Can’t say much against it. 5/5
Love Me Back: So reminiscent of her older works! But still too short. I still feel like there’s something missing. Apart from that I love it! 4/5
No Man's Land: Gorgeous, great production! It’s long, but never gets boring. One of the best. 5/5
Ai wo tomenaide: Grew so much on me, I really like it now. Feels a bit off, cause it’s pretty much the only real ballad on this album with Brave. 3,5/5
KO-SO KO-SO: Good electro pop song, but I prefer the other ones on the album. 3,5/5
Lay Down: Gets better with every listen. Don’t know if I like all the Enrgrish. Not as great as ESCALATE, but still a great song. 4/5
Love Technique: Cute electro pop! The beat in the background is great. I also love the prechorus and the chorus itself. I guess I have to get used to the rest, lol. But it’s a really nice song! 3,5/5
Poppin' love cocktail: So much fun to listen to this song! Always think about summer listening to it. And about Kuu and Kenji being happily together. 4/5
All for you: A nice way to end the album. I’m a bit sad they didn’t make it similar to the acoustic version of You are not alone, cause it would sound so much better without that echo in the background. 4/5

Overall: 4/5

A great upbeat album! I wished so often for something like that from Kuu, I’m just happy!
Can't wait to have it in my hands to look at the gorgeous packaging and the booklet!

Btw, I'm currently uploading a 320 kpbs version I made from the CD rip from Koda Gumi Thailand and the iTunes one from baidu.

If it sells more than 150k I'll be really surprised. Hell more than 125k will surprise me.

I hope her pregnancy will help her evolve as an artist and she will come back with a fresh album instead of warmed up TRICK leftovers.
you just say this because you really don't like Kuu and think Ayu's ideal
I saw you saying very nasty things about Kuu so no surprise here, really

I love the album very much. my all-time favs of Kuu are Secret, BEST~second Session & I don't worship Black Cherry that much although I loved that period of her career. I like Kingdom too but I wouldn't call it 'OMFG EPIC" at all, although the PV part was very pleasing. 'de plus', I haven't skipped many tracks off JAPONESQUE like Deja vu/TRICK

the album has some rockish influence, or her husband's influence, idk

I loved the introduction and I wish she had the main song off album with this kind of music to give us that 'JAPONESQUE" oriental feel, because So Nice doesn't fit it, actually
although So Nice feels dated, it's this sexy Kuu song so I like it as much as Under
I like Boom Boom Boys but it's a bit messy at parts.
Slow is nice but a usual ballad. nothing like you or walk, I would want smth like this, honestly, because that's too much repetitive stuff
Brave sounds like an old typical Japanese ballad they'd release in the 80s-90s but I like the feel of it.
Everyday - okay.
ESCALATE rocks
I love No Man's Land best off this album.
Lay Down - okay
Love Technique - I love it.
All for you - is like a session recorded song. first time track like this is in her album. it's good for the ending of the album but for me it's hard to get the melody. the flow of it is very strange to me

overall I'd give it 8 of 10 for music, and 15 of 10 for the packaging and PVs

I love Kuu and I already can't wait for the live on her b-day!

guys I just saw this, Music Station Live, 13th of January, did I miss smth or did she really perform?

I dont like No Man's Land, the rap is just... blah the rest is really good.

My favorite song is Slow, so beautiful and epic!

I'm not impressed with ESCALATE and Lay Down, they are basic dance tracks... ESCALATE dont even have a break. They are cool but nothing awesome. I was more excited listen Love Technique than ESCALATE and Lay Down. lol

I'm really glad that almost everyone like the album, but I don't feel the same way right now at the first listen, and hurt so much say this.

---

It's really beautiful the ViVi shoot!

You're an idiot.
I say it because I thought this album sucked and was horrible compared to Kingdom and TRICK. If I hated Kuu oh so much I wouldn't even give her chances anymore by listening to her albums and watching her tours at all, I like(much, much moreso a few years ago) her, what I hate are her "she's so perfect and unique and better than anyone else!!!" stans when she's probably the most musically boring and formular out of the big Japanese pop girls of the moment(Ayumi, Utada, Namie, Kuu...)
She's the Japanese Britney: a succesful singer that knows how to use sex for sales, to create catchy pop and is fun to watch and listen to. I like Britney. I like Koda. I just do not like what she has done lately at all.

And you really think I love everything Ayu craps out? LOVEppears is a horrible album, Sunrise/Sunset is a really, really bad single and blossom should have never gotten that ****** PV. Just to name a few things.
Oh and I can't STAND Fly High, it's one of my most hated songs in the world.
And her habit of lipsynching and then pretending she never did it? Doesn't really make me respect her more, I only accept it because she had good reason for it and stopped lipping(unlike Koda who recently started...FANTASIA anyone?)

Anyways, I've had Slow on repeat for like an hour now, it grew from the one song I like to the one song I really, really like on the album.

Shouldn't I be asking you that? You practically attacked me for simply disliking an album - an album I disliked with reasoning, not just a simple "I HATE IT!!!!".

I just downloaded the album and it's wonderful. I have so many favourites. This is a really good album. I am thinking of buying the CD+2DVD but hmmm... not sure. Anyway, i think that Japonesque is pretty good.

@ isthisLOL?, yes but, every artist has stans like that. You should not take that too personally. They are not here to attack you, but just to spread their love about their artist, in a kind of obsessive way i agree. But still; don't take it as if they do it to annoy you. It's just music, you know.

I'm listening to JAPONESQUE now. I'm DEAD. Here's the epic track by track review:

Prologue ~JAPONESQUE~
Sounds different from her previous intros, but it's not a bad thing. Not at all. It's pretty nice, actually. It's epic. I can imagine this as a opening video song for her new tour which was cancelled. Oh well, maybe she'll uses it as a opening for her comeback live in November then... *_* 10/10

So Nice
I was very surprised about how good this is. It's like a remix of Candy, Get It On and JUICY, at least. I also got this Rihanna feeling from this song, which made me love it even more. I can't even express how much I love this song now. I'm a sucker for American R&B, I can confess you that, and this sounds like one in my ears. Eargasmic. *___* 10/10

Boom Boom Boys
Preview wasn't good imo. This song made me worried that TRICK will happen again (=I won't like the album itself at all) but the moment I heard the full version of this song, I realized how awesome this actually is. It sounds so much better in full than it did as a short clip, which is always good. It's still growing on me though, but I like how fierce this is. 8/10

V.I.P (album version)
Epic fail. T-Pain ruined this song for me completely. But since I don't like modifying albums' track listings, I'm keeping it here. Maybe it's going to grow on me someday but not right now. T-Pain can be great when he wants to be but in this song he wasn't. 4,5/10

Slow
Another very cool westernized R&B song. *__* I really loved Omarion's voice here tbh. It was so sweet, like a R&B voice should be. This song made chills go through my spine much like Yume no Uta does so this song is awesome. I think I also cried more or less while listening to this, actually. So touching and beautiful. Masterpiece. 10/10

Brave
So this is the song that was recorded during TRICK production. Tbh, it sounds like it would have been on the album instead of Ai wo kotoba. It also sounds like a b-side for stay with me (btw, thanks for the translation, tenshi~) but at the moment I didn't really feel anything for this song. I need to listen to it more before I can really judge it. [B]7/10[B]

Everyday
I love her cute songs so of course I love this too. 8D Not as good as Love Technique but it's not bad either. Reminds me a bit of anytime from Kingdom, too. 9/10

IN THE AIR
I still love this song though I haven't listened to it enough so it still feels new and fresh to me. I love the production very much. It's different~ 9/10

You are not alone (acoustic version)
I'm not sure whether I love this or those live versions more, but even so, this song is really beautiful and a perfect end for the first half of JAPONESQUE. I really like the arrangement and I'm happy that this version is included on the album instead of the happier version on Ai wo tomenaide because I'm a sucker for Acoustic Versions. 10/10

Interlude ~JAPONESQUE~
Epic. Nuff said. 10/10

ESCALATE
I really love this song too. Awesome hip hop/R&B song, imo. I know I'm gonna listen to this on repeat one of these days because this is beyond amazeness. Seriously. One of the best songs on the album. 10/10

Love Me Back
Yeah, bling bling, check check~ 10/10

No Man's Land
Someone kill me because this song totally surprised me. I remember the preview was awesome but this is even more awesome in full. Seriously. This is probably her best rock song ever made. Yes, it has that Can We Go Back vibe on it, but it's actually even better (at least to me). I also get a some kind of a Kelly Clarkson vibe from this song, which isn't actually a bad thing because Kelly is a awesome pop/rock singer. 10/10

Ai wo tomenaide
Has been beautiful since the first listen as is still beautiful as hell. Nothing else to add but that it makes me cry. 10/10

KO-SO-KO-SO
Sexy song, and probably will always be my favorite 4TIMES song. 10/10

Lay Down
Holy moly! This song is just so sexy! I can imagine how this is played in some club at nights. I kinda get this certain Kana Nishino vibe from this too. She has some party songs like this too which are mostly sung in English (ONLY ONE, Every Boy Every Girl etc...) and I kinda like these songs. This song though is very Kuuish and I think there's no other song in her discography you can compare it to. 10/10

Love Technique
Nice westernized cute pop song. I knew I'm gonna love it. I'm just wondering if Kuu's a fan of k-pop because I really get that vibe from this too. It doesn't really bother me since I'm a fan too. I like this song because it sounds very different compared to her other cute songs. This will never be forgotten imo, it's just too different. 10/10

Poppin' love cocktai
Never been a huge fan of this song for some reason. I mean, I like the music and the lyrics too, but I'm not a big fan of this after all. It's still growing on me. 7/10

All for you
As I said before, I'm into acoustic versions. I don't care if it's a acapella, piano or guitar, I will definitely love it into bits. This is a acoustic studio version so it's even better. I love her voice here. I can't wait for the translation because this song has become one of my favorite songs ever released by Kuu. And I feel like listening to a concert audio rip now, hehe. So beautiful~ 10/10

Summary
I don't know if this is her best album or close to it, but I can say that I think it's one of her best work. Apart from amazing, outstandingly gorgeus singles (yes, I'm a stan. What do you expect???! 8D) I think the most outstanding album songs are Love Technique, No Man's Land, So Nice, Slow, ESCALATE and Lay Down, which really blew me away already as preview clips. In full these songs are even more awesome. So, this is definitely another masterpiece by Koddess. 10/10

I had more stuff I wanted to say but I just can't because I'm too amazed. First UNIVERSE ate my heart again, then Dejavu made me even more obsessed, and now JAPONESQUE blew me away completely. There're only few j-pop artists that can amaze me like this: Kuu, Kana, Namie and Utada. But anyhoo, I'll stop writing now because my head hurts and I'm hungry ->

Let's try not comparing singers here, this just makes things a big mess of opinions and stans We all have opinions and, until we are polite, we have to respect each other.

JAPONESQUE is her most solid album since Kingdom imo. Lay Down a bit let down [lol pun] for me, while Brave was a big surprise. ESCALATE is one of my favorite tracks, the beat is so powerful, and the song if ****ing catchy. No Man's Land is awesome, the instrumental, the melody, her voice, everything fits well imo Love Technique is one of her best cute tracks ever, her best since Good*Day. Everyday is okay, probably in a month I'll be already over it lol. Slow is different, it will take me some time to say if I like it or not.
And both Introduction and Interlude are amazing, they should me mixed into a full version starting in a japanese style and then changes into an urban song *dreaming*

I really hope she'll do something like a 2012-2013 JAPONESQUE Tour or concert. It'll be epic for sure.
