I'm confused by the video, because I swear when she was shooting it she tweeted that she missed her hubby, I'm guessing because they used his picture in it, as a link to Virgin Road/Love songs/Last Angel. But, then they actually did get a divorce. Is is just some sort of huge coincidence?

I thought it was, but it could have been during another PV shooting. But, I swear it was when she was there. But, I could be remembering things wrong.

I guess I'm just wondering if at the time the PV was shot, whenever it was, did she know she was going to get divorced? I'm not trying to say anything rude, I'm just wondering if she only meant to use the picture to connect the Return Road PV to the PVs of Love Songs, and it was a huge coincidence, or if the picture use was intentional...

I guess so. You are not deciding in one day that you want to divorce. The problems started when Ayu felt she had to be there for Japan and Mannie did not come. There is probably more going on than we ever would know.

But she left the ending of Return Road open. Perhaps she has still some hope to continue the story nevertheless.

I liked it the PV, but I think I expected something... more. Like it was missing something. And I don't like the huge Ayus on the building... mainly becasue they're singing but to an instrumental part of the song. Or am I just missing something?

The Ayu on the factory is not the Ayumi singing Return Road in the PV, just like the band when it's playing in slow-motion is not the one playing Return Road. It's the Ayumi and band that is the media image giving hope to the people, so it's a symbolic singing, not the singing of the song.
