Kuroki Meisa officially announces her pregnancy



Actress Kuroki Meisa (23) was rumored to be pregnant when she married singer Akanishi Jin (27) back in February. On April 14th, she sent a fax to several media outlets, officially confirming that she is currently 4-months pregnant!

Kuroki started the message with a brief apology, “After I had pregnancy symptoms, I suffered from poor health frequently. It was my first time experiencing this, and it was a time of uneasiness.” She explained that after getting advice from the doctor, she waited to announce the pregnancy until she was in her stable period.

Kuroki continued, “Right now, I’m both mentally and physically stable. I’m happy and I’m filled with a sense of responsibility for this new life that I’ve been blessed with.” While she is due in mid-October, the actress expressed her joy of becoming a mother saying, ”We want to combine our powers as husband and wife, and pour all our love into this child.”

According to her agency, Kuroki is scheduled to star in the play, ‘Miyazawa Kenji ga Tsutaeru Koto‘, on May 12th and 13th at Setagaya Public Theater. Thereafter, she will go on maternity leave. Kuroki plans to return to work after childbirth, while carefully considering her condition.

Actress Kuroki Meisa and idol Akanishi Jin are currently awaiting the birth of their child. It seems that reality is quite cruel to the unconventional couple, and they are said to be in heavy debt.

“In order to pay the penalty for his canceled tour, Jin borrowed more than a couple hundred million yen. And it seems only Meisa is able to pay back that debt. The only way she can do it is by going nude and doing sex scenes to pay it back with her body.” Said an entertainment management insider.

Johnny’s is known to be a very strict agency amongst the industry and it seems they’ve completely given up on Jin. First his tour was canceled, and his role in the GTO remake is also rescinded. The fees incurred for canceling his tour, which included venue cancellation fees, staff fees, and contract fees, all added up to around 450 million yen. On top of this, because he is withdrawing from GTO, there is an added “trouble-causing” fee that is around 100million yen that he also has to pay.

At this point, people are just waiting for his retirement announcement. “There is no way he can pay such a hefty fee with an expecting child on the way. Johnny Kitagawa has been lenient towards Jin despite all the troubles that he has caused the agency, but not notifying the agency of his marriage was the last straw and Johnny is extremely angry at his conduct. It was said that Johnny got so angry that he threw a spoon when he heard the news. It wouldn’t be surprising if Jin is let go from J&A once 47 Ronin is released next February…”

Meisa’s career is also in danger because of this. “Right now, she has contracts with 6 companies, but they probably won’t renew her once those contracts are up. And once Jin is chased out of J&A, no TV stations would want to use her in their shows either.”

At the end, the only thing left for her in the entertainment industry would be nude scenes and sex scenes. She’s probably have to go nude in order to help her husband pay back his debt. “She can probably still put out photobooks and star in movies because J&A has less control over those companies. The companies think that if Meisa goes nude, it’d be a big hit, so they’ll push her towards that direction. Kind of like her drama Jiu, but this time they’ll probably ask her to show more. At the very end, she’ll probably end up doing soft-core porn.”

Both are known to carefree personalities, and with this new rumour about their money troubles, people are already talking about their divorce. These was even a rumour about people offering Meisa to appear nude while pregnant. One must really wonder how long she’ll hold on.

Kuroki Meisa to act in next year's NHK Taiga drama

On the 24th, it was announced Kuroki Meisa would star in next year’s NHK Taiga drama “Yae no Sakura”. Although the popular actress Kuroki has played the heroine in many dramas before, this is her first time acting in a Taiga drama. Kuroki famously had a sudden marriage with Akanishi Jin, and is expecting a baby in October.

Kuroki, even after her marriage, has continued her activities as an actress.

Kuroki Meisa attends press conference for upcoming Taiga drama, ‘Yae no Sakura’



On May 30th, actress Kuroki Meisa attended a press conference for NHK’s upcoming Taiga drama, ‘Yae no Sakura‘, where they announced the new cast members. The drama stars Ayase Haruka as the lead roles.

Kuroki will play the role of ‘Nakano Takeko’, the rival of Yae(Ayase). Born in Edo, Nakano is a skilled long sword fighter and serves as the assistant trainer of a Swordplay School. However, when the Boshin War begins, she returns to Aizu, and teaches samurai wives how to use the long sword.

“I hope to deliver the power of life, the bond of people, the importance of protecting something, and courage to everyone. I also want to learn from this piece of work,” Kuroki expressed.

According to NHK chief producer Naito Shinsuke, they offered Kuroki the role last fall. Regarding Kuroki’s filming for the drama, he declared, “The script isn’t done yet, so we’ll see how things go while making arrangements with the schedule.” When asked, “Since Kuroki-san is pregnant, didn’t you think about a replacement?“, Naito explained, “If there are no obstacles during shooting, she can do it. We’ve started productions after thinking about who we need.”

During this press conference, 16 new cast members were revealed. They include Nishijima Hidetoshi as Yae’s older brother ‘Yamamoto Kakuma’, Hasegawa Hiroki as Yae’s first husband ‘Kawasaki Shounosuke’, Gouriki Ayame as Yae’s childhood friend ‘Hinata Yuki’, Matsushige Yutaka as Yae’s father ‘Gonpachi’, Fubuki Jun as Yae’s mother ‘Saku’, Hasegawa Kyoko as Kakuma’s wife ‘Ura’, and Kudo Asuka as Yae’s younger brother ‘Saburo’.

Other cast members include Ayano Gou as ‘Matsudaira Katamori’, the last feudal lord of the Aizu clan, Tamayama Tetsuji as ‘Yamakawa Ohkura’, Aizu’s young general, Ikeuchi Hiroyuki as the chief retainer ‘Kajiwara Heima’, Saito Takumi as Jinbo Kuranosuke’s eldest son ‘Shuri’, Kitamura Yukiya as ‘Akizuki Teijiro’, the leading figure of the ‘Satsuma-Aizu Alliance’, Inamori Izumi as Katamori’s sister-in-law ‘Teruhime’, Nakamura Shido as ‘Sagawa Kanbei’, and Nishida Toshiyuki as minister ‘Saigou Tamono’.

The drama portrays the life of Yae, a woman who barricaded herself with 500 women during the Boshin War in Tsurugajou, Aizu. She later fought the battle with guns, which made her known as the “Joan of Arc during the end of the Edo era”. The script will be written by Yamamoto Mutsumi (Gegege no Nyobo), and the theme songs will be done by Sakamoto Ryuichi.

‘Yae no Sakura’ is scheduled to air 50 episodes starting January of 2013.

Jin Akanishi reportedly recording in LA, but it’s not a job

Meisa Kuroki’s taiga drama role and Jin Akanishi’s personal recording trip to LA are beginning to suggest gaps in their careers, reports Shukan Bunshun.

The June 7 edition of the weekly magazine has reported Kuroki’s career has not been badly affected as previously feared. The actress will begin filming for NHK’s taiga drama “八重の桜 (Yae no Sakura)” in February, four months after her baby is due.

“Kuroki belongs to Sweet Power Agency, which looks after popular beauties like Rina Uchiyama and Maki Horikita. Ignoring the rules of the showbiz industry and reporting about her marriage afterwards infuriated the agency. Of course, one would usually need to make a formal apology to commercial clients and pay for damages, but Akanishi and Kuroki let is pass with a ‘what’s wrong with what we did’ attitude. It’s only expected that they would be sidelined,” said one source belonging to a major advertising agency.

However, now we are beginning to see some differences.

It has been reported there were fears Subaru might drop Kuroki from their sports car line since their main target audience was not pregnant women, but as a matter in fact the reaction has been positive.

“She’s been getting commercial offers even after getting pregnant. Kuroki gets at least 20 million yen (about US$200,000) per commercial contract. She’s exceptional in that she brings an exotic and ‘it factor’ presence, so she would not have a problem earning an income in showbiz,” said the same source.

On the other hand Akanishi has got a lot of problems to overcome before he can move forward. While he had been causing trouble since leaving KAT-TUN, under the watchful eye of Johnny Kitagawa he had made it to his solo debut and was preparing to make it in the US. However, it has been reported Mr Kitagawa has turned his back on Akanishi following his marriage.

“Johnny’s have put him aside. At the moment Akanishi is in LA doing some recording. But that isn’t a job for Johnny’s, he’s there for his own interest. But if something bad comes out of it, there’s a chance Johnny’s might fire him,” said one source.

“[Akanishi relies on his wife, Meisa, but] he’s like her attendant. He’ll go with her to her home in Okinawa, go to izakaya with her, listen to her complaints. He joins her when she goes baby goods shopping. He even goes to the hairdresser’s with her and showers her with compliments like, ‘that look looks good on you’. It’s something unimaginable when you think back to his bad boy days,” said one acquaintance.

Kuroki Meisa’s last pre-childbirth CM to air starting July 17th



Actress Kuroki Meisa (24), who happens to be singer Akanishi Jin’s (28) wife and an expecting mother, will see her last pre-childbirth CM “KATE” for Kanebo cosmetics air starting July 17th. In the CM, she stars as the heroine of the fictional stage play titled “Kumo Onna to Chou” (“Spider Lady and Butterfly”). There will be 2 patterns for the CM; “Spider line” and “-lady”, and Kuroki transforms into the fascinating “Kumo Onna” (or “Spider Lady.”)

Kuroki was appointed since she suits the product’s “cool and sharp” concept perfectly. In the past, celebrities like Nakashima Mika (29) and Kimura Kaela (27) have appeared in Kanebo’s CMs. As such, Kuroki appeared extremely happy as she stated, “As a woman, it is an honour to appear in a cosmetics CM.”

Starting in the second half of July, the CM will also air in TOHO Cinemas theaters. Large posters will also be posted in train stations in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya.
