![]() In the end tho, I dun care what she's producing, as long as she's releasing soon. I'm a bit impatient now... which is weird because she has done long breaks before (and I'm sure lots of us are used to that)... maybe because she did publicly announce the hiatus.. ah well please hikki save me..

well, I don't necessarily want something totally electronic like heart station, cause that gets boring quickly. I dont really consider Ultra Blue a synth album...it's more of a hybrid, closer to her older albums, though I guess more experimental than them.
So for me, I really like that sound. I could deal with something like DR, even though I have a hard time pinning down that sound to something she can reinvent, and I find a lot of songs on that album really bad. I know I'm in a minority, but I never saw how people could see that album as one of her best...the only really masterpiece songs on it for me are Sakura Drops, Traveling, Final Distance, and Hikari...the rest. No. Letters is okay. I think those are all the singles ![]() Anyways...the great thing is to get anything at all like you said. This is just, what I'd personally like from her. I really don't want her to completely rock out ![]()

I actually do like the non-single tracks. I remember playing them...but I just don't think they're good songs.
I liked uso mitai na... but cause it was like hikari, it was hard for me to pay it attention. When songs have the same notes as other songs...it's just soo apparent to me and in my mind, it's really hard for me to have it stand alone by itself. I feel like I don't really want her to do any rock or acoustic tracks...but I do like when she does acoustic covers and stuff...so idk lol I think I just want to be impressed with her.

That's they style I love from Hikki though (that etheral synth style)! It's like, the perfect material for her. I can't see anyone else doing that stuff just the way she does it. It's so unique and I really feel like it's a genre of music all it's own that she created.
On a side note, does anyone else love that little piano bridge solo in Goodbye Happiness as much as I do?? I always forget about it until it's leading up to it and then I remember and when it hits I just get shivers and want to close my eyes. It's genius and so beautiful! ![]() And I do love HS far more than DR (that I think is a good album, but far from being a masterpiece), but I hope we won't get a Heart Station vol. 2, as once is enought IMO... Meh, I don't know what to expect... I just hope it doesn't come filled with Hikaru's trademark generic ballads xD |

I'm sorry I only became a fan of Hikki due to Simple & Clean and I started following her releases with Be My Last. So... what album is "DR" - I think I have tried her albums pre-Ultra Blue but I did not like them. Too "R&B"

I'm not a huge fan of hers, but I can say that I am a fan of her Deep River album.
I hope she makes more albums like that one in the future! (and songs like COLORS) |

- Distance was too lukewarm. I know that First Love might not be a super album, but after repeating the albums thousands times, and I would expect something better from hikki. But no for me. Once I received the album along with A BEST, I listened to the latter one for more instead. - We can agree that she used lots of different instruments to give dynamic arrangements between songs in DR. So far it's the only album with such diversity. The first two albums are R&B driven, and the next two albums after DR contain mostly sync songs. - Her health went into trouble about two weeks or so before the release of SAKURA doroppusu/Letters, and all of her activities were cancelled. Then before she released the single, toshiba announced the album release. It was a bit chaotic when I received the news. I totally didn't expect her to release an album when her health condition was not good. I believe other fans had the same thought during that moment. - Also, her health condition actually boosted up her popularity, and dun ask me why cuz I was really confused as well. I just remember how happy I was when the first week sales of SAKURA/Letters passed over 400K (compared to hikari's first week sales - 230K). - The shocking effect when the cover was revealed. It really shocked through my brain when I saw the cover, as it's trying to tell me the meaning of the album. It's so poetic and philosophic. (probly a bit exaggerate but that is how I felt back then). - Also, the cover is black and white, and the feeling of the album is quite melancholic. Yet the arrangements of the songs are so "colourful", and thus create a huge contrast. - The arrangements are so different, yet the songs flow together as a piece. - The lyrics are so beautiful and powerful. - Her voice is much better compared to the first two albums. (Of course, her vocal is getting better in UB and HS. But those albums were not released at that time ![]() - etc. If I didn't follow hikki until the release of UB or HS, I might have another feeling towards DR. But I've been following her since First Love, and to be honest DR is a very huge jump from Distance. So you can't blame people on considering DR as a masterpiece during that moment. Of course there were fans who didn't like DR at all in 2002 as well. It's just having different opinions. There's no harm if my fav hikki album is different from you, him, or her ![]() ![]()
