for me its not even that.
i mean happy ballads are good and all... but look at I am, Rainbow, Memorial address, My Story, Missunderstood... All done while she was in her relationship with Nagase.. Her high point, Duty-Memorial Address was her hightlight... She just makes better music when she is in a relationship!

Her relationship with Nagase was revealed to the public in spring 2001, around the time of A BEST promotions, but we didn't know how long they'd been together at that point. However, when they broke up in mid- to late-2007 she referred to him as "my lover of 7 years." So most of GUILTY happened as a result of the breakup (most obviously "(don't) Leave me alone," "decision," and the title track). I dunno when they got together exactly, and I have no idea how much of "Duty" was done before or after they got together, unfortunately.
 That said, looking at her lyrics, I think she probably got together with him after "Duty" was completed, because nothing on that album really screams "girl falling in love," it's just a very personal album. "M," however, seems to be written from the POV of a girl who's falling in love and is scared to death of it, so. My guess is they got together sometime between Duty and M.

^ I dont know... from some of the lyrics I get the feeling that she is starting to fall in love...
she also has the feelings of doubt and what not as well, but over all something is there (think of that spark you getting when first falling in love.)

^ True, but meeting and start dating is two different things...
Ayumi said they had ended a 7 year relationship in 2007... I would assume that means dating... But I also took her as "acting" back in 2000/1 when she did those videos (one of them being Voyage)

yeah, I know she did some stuff as a teenager, but she wasn't really known...
I always thought about it when she did that stuff in 2000/1. But of course, I dont think he was in any of it, so who knows how they met. Of course you cant really argue the fact she said seven years in 2007... the only real question is when they meet and when she started having feelings for the man... who asked who out... blah blah blah... you know.

I believe that between ASFXX ~ Duty there was someone else than Nagase. I'm so sure about that, because many of the songs especially on Duty are breakup songs and after her and nagase went "official" her songs became more happier and lyrics more mature.

(more OT-ness)^I can tell GACKT has aged, but maybe that is because I have been a fan of his for so long. Though, he hasn't aged a lot, he has definitely aged. So has Johnny Depp, but they age so gracefully. Both hot men.
Ayu isn't aging badly either, she still looks like she's in her mid 20's at least.

^ Which brings up the question: Why do some celebrities age with such grace and we common folk usually develop wrinkles, a 2nd bout of acne or something else? Some people are just lucky when they age? We're all human, you know...
I mean, I wanna look 20 when I'm 30 like Ayu. Does she have the elixir of life and isn't sharing?
