Fuji TV drama ‘Lucky Seven’ to air a drama special in spring

On October 16th, Fuji TV announced that they are going to air a special episode of their 2012 winter drama ‘Lucky Seven‘ starring Arashi’s Matsumoto Jun in spring 2013.

The drama followed a team of seven private detectives that struggled with various difficult cases. Matsumoto was supported by an ensemble of great actors such as Eita, Matsushima Nanako, Oizumi Yo, and Naka Riisa. One highlight of ‘Lucky Seven’ were the actions scenes featuring Matsumoto and Eita, but it also offered a lot of comical situations, which turned it into a very successful drama with a season-average rating of 15.6%.

In spring the team of seven are going to tackle yet another difficult case in a new special episode that will also feature two prominent guest stars with actress Ishihara Satomi and actor Oikawa Mitsuhiro. The latter is playing a brilliant economist who is rumored to be the mastermind behind a couple of financial crimes, while Ishihara plays his charming and devilish secretary. The protagonist ‘Tokita Shuntaro’ (Matsumoto) is approaching the secretary in order to get to the bottom of the financial crimes, but he soon realizes that his feelings for her aren’t all that fake. He has completely fallen for her devilish charm and keeps on losing sight of his actual objective.

Filming for the special began on October 13th and Matsumoto commented, “I want it to become a special episode that makes you laugh, but also features a lot of action and a thrilling pace.”

Ishihara expressed, “I’m looking forward to work with Matsumoto again. It has been a while that we worked together. I haven’t played that many mysterious characters in dramas so far, but I’d like to work hard and enjoy this new experience.”

Fuji TV has yet to announce an exact date for the special episode.

Arashi & Horikita Maki to host NHK’s Kouhaku 2012

On October 16th it was revealed that Horikita Maki (24) and popular group Arashi have been appointed as hosts of 63rd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, to be broadcasted in New Years’ Eve.

This is the 3rd time for Arashi to host Kouhaku since 2010 and the first time for Horikita. After receiving positive reviews for her heroine portrayal in morning drama “Ume-chan Sensei” which ended on September 29th with an average rating of 20.7%. The first time in nine years since a morning drama achieves more than 20% ratings.

After yet another fulfilling year in Arashi’s musical career it was only natural for them to host this ceremony. Horikita has already worked in the past with some members of Arashi like, Sakurai Sho (30), Ninomiya Kazunari (29) and Matsumoto Jun (29).

WHY IS THERE NO JOHNNY'S COUNTDOWN???

Is there any issues regarding costs? What about any other act performing at the Tokyo Dome???

Both KinKi Kids & Kanjani8 are having their own separate countdown at different places outside of Tokyo & in recent times , even SMAP & TOKIO don't really participate in them as frequent as before

It frankly didn't really surprise me there might/will not be any Johnny's Countdown cos if so , this would have been announced way back in Aug if not last month

Now is already mid Oct , it seems very late & you cannot expect ARASHI to perform live via satellite which they've done so for the past 2 years isn't it ?

Aiba has a new winter drama lined up , it's titled Last Hope

Aiba will star in Fuji's new drama for the winter season, on tuesday 9pm slot.

Cast includes Tabe Mikako, Tanabe Seiichi and Takashima Masahiro.

The drama is set on a high-technology medical center, and it's a human-suspense drama.

Aiba Masaki to star in new medical drama ‘Last Hope’

On October 31st, Fuji TV announced that one of their upcoming winter dramas will be a medical drama titled ‘Last Hope‘ starring Aiba Masaki from the popular group Arashi.

Fuji TV describes ‘Last Hope’ as a human medical suspense drama. The story revolves around a medical team with completely different individuals, whether it’s their age, their gender, their achievements or their field of specialization. While aiming to become the forefront of advanced medical care, those individuals grows as a team and face their hidden pasts.

Aiba will play the protagonist, an internist who possess a great power of imagination and is able imagine the pain of the patients, which causes him to become very close to them. He can read and understand the emotions of each patient just by checking their heartbeat through his stethoscope. On the other hand he is also a person who tends to do things at his own pace and never misses his mid-afternoon snack at 3:00 pm. He is also burdened with a secret in his past that he has yet to find out himself.

Speaking of cutting-edge medical research, the director of the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application at the Kyoto University, Yamanaka Shinya, was recently awarded with the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine for his discovery that mature cells can be converted to stem cells. On the day of the drama announcement, he also received the Order of Culture.

Aiba, who will be taking on his first role as a doctor with this drama, commented excitedly, “It’s a drama about a group of individuals that make use of cutting-edge medical care similar to what earned Professor Yamanaka the Nobel Prize! I can’t believe I’m playing a doctor!”

The supporting cast is made up of actress Tabe Mikako as a cool and dry doctor from the emergency room, actor Tanabe Seiichi as a gifted and presumptuous surgeon who loves women, and actor Kohinata Fumiyo as an ambitious specialist for advanced medical care. Additional characters are played by Kitamura Yukiya, Sakuraba Nanami, Takashima Masahiro, and Hirata Mitsuru.

Fuji TV will be airing ‘Last Hope’ every Tuesday at 9:00 pm.

Ninomiya Kazunari: an art piece of 1.3 million Pocky



On October 31st, Arashi’s Ninomiya Kazunari (29) attended a Guinness World Records Challenge Event held by “Pocky” (Ezaki Glico Co., Ltd.).

Pocky created a mosaic art based on their CM model character played by Ninomiya, “Devil Nino”. They entered the Guiness book by using 1,307,208 pocky. In order to achieve this, a total of 240 people worked during 48 hours.

When the 50.92 square meters mosaic art was unveiled, Ninomiya expressed full of joy; “Amazing!”, “I’m really glad I became an entertainer, I’m deeply touched”. Ninomiya also participated as representative of the brand and received the Guinness certificate on stage. Deeply grateful he said, “This was prepared by a lot of people, so I want to thank all of them”.

Among the agency, KinKi Kids and President Johnny Kitagawa are the only Guinness World Record holders. Though Ninomiya’s award is not a direct certification, for Guinness association, he is considered as the 3rd member of the agency to be awarded. To this, Nino dedicated a message to Johnny-san, “Finally! You can say we are side by side” he said with a smug face causing laugh among the audience.

In addition, it was revealed by “オリ★スタ” magazine that Arashi has won the top spot as “Favorite Artist Ranking chosen by 20,000 music fans” for the 3rd consecutive year.
