I only knew 3 people in real life who liked Ayu:

-The 2 girls who got me interested in Ayu in the first place
-A guy I knew from college who happened to have heard some of her music.

I'd love to meet other Ayu fans in real life if I ever got the chance to.

I've made some people to like her music. But I don't think they'd consider themselves fans.

Otherwise, no. Not many midwesterners like J-Pop.

I know a guy who like No way to say, but he likes Mika Nakashima a lot more than Ayu, so i wouldn't call him like a fan. Lol, he ADORES Depend on you and A Song for XX(A BEST version) tho.

I have plenty of friends who at least like ayu alot. 5 or 6 who are like crazy huge fans. I'm in the L.A. area though so it's alot easier to find other ayu/jpop fans.

nuhhuh o.o; i got my best friend to like some of her music (her favorite song is 'evolution') but she can't listen to her much...she's afraid ayu's voice will break her windows XD she's the only one of my friends that's ever shown any interest in ayumi :x

I have one friend who is a huge Ayu fan. When he heard Ayu for the first time he didn't like her so much.(or so it seemed..) Anyway, not so long after that, he started to like Ayu. Every time he came to my place he wanted to listen to Ayu.. At the moment he's almost as fanatic as me. When I bought him a ayu cd as birthday present, he was really happy. ^^

never met one who liked ayu, tho i met a few who knew about her. here in the states jpop is still "crappy" and i dont like the reaction i get when i say AYUMI HAMASAKI. most my friends are korean/american/or just in general non japanese who couldnt care less and insist they wont listen because they dont understand japanese, which to me is quite a narrow minded view of music (mozart doesnt have lyrics either!)
but yes, id love to meet people in real life who share my zealousness for ayu. where are you!!

I have to agree that they're aren't many midwestern J-POP fans.But I have managed to turn my sisters and a good amount of my friends into Ayumi fans and one of my teachers.

My little sister (aged 9) loves 'a song is born' and likes Ayu in general she's also a fan of Globe and that's not my fault. She asked what was the name of the group Keiko was from, I told her it was Globe (I'm not a fan myself) and I came home from school one day to find my computer with about 50+ different Globe mp3s. xD My brother can't stand Ayumi but another fan of Ayu I know is my great aunt and she's 84. I had her listen to Ayu and she loves her voice, her favourite song is Dearest.

yeah I have a buck load of friends who like Ayumi they said she reminds them of a mouse when she screeches but yeah they love some Utada and BoA though oh and Crystal Kay<-------graduated with her so that's why she introduced BoA;s music to them chikku
