Secret, six years later

6 years ago... wow. I can't believe it's been that long. Seems like such a long time ago. I remember the whole thing about her tattoo being real and it was like 'waaa?!' lol. Ah...
The song 'secret' remains to be one of my favourite album title songs.

Man, I remember after (miss)understood I took my first break from Ayumi (she was the only artist I was listening to for years ) and I remember coming on here briefly and seeing she had a new album out so I downloaded it to hear it and I really wasn't that impressed with it. GUILTY threw me back to her, though and me being the collector that I am, of course I bought the album eventually (it's part of her collection! ). But even after a couple of more listens Secret just wouldn't grow on me.

I listened to all of Ayu's albums about 2 or 3 months back and I sat down to listen to Secret to see if my opinion might change and it didn't.

There's a few great songs in there; until that Day..., JEWEL, BLUE BIRD, Secret. The rest of it... I don't know. A lot of the material in it just doesn't have that... spark that I feel is present in alot of her other albums.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think there's any particular bad songs on the album, I just don't think Secret really clicked with me

I remember when I heard BLUE BIRD the first time when I was watching AT06 in summer 2006 and wondered where it was from. At the time I didn't go on any Ayu forums. I started going on those in early 2007 I believe, so only place I was able to get my news was wikipedia. I downloaded Secret from a torrent site too, when I had a chance and you know what? It was the first Ayu album I didn't really like when it was released.

Even though Secret had mind blowing songs like JEWEL and momentum, I still couldn't find myself liking this album. It was sad, but I didn't stop listening to it either because I wanted to make myself to love it. I never did though this album has a lot of songs that I can easily relate to, I thought it was the worst album she had ever released.

Well, two or so years passed and I think that it was after my huge disappointment with NEXT LEVEL I finally started to appreciate Secret as an album more than before. I can say now that I enjoy it better than I did back in the day. Sometimes I even wonder what was the reason why I didn't like this album in 2006 because it's really lovely and somehow I get winter vibes from it every time I listen to it. :p

So in short;
Hated back then, now I love it♥

I think this was the first album where I felt most connected to Ayu, all while I was fan when albums were released. (Like, I wasn't a fan when her first few albums came out; I didn't start following her until about 2005/2006.)

Secret holds a special place in my heart. It isn't my favorite album, but not my least favorite either, just...special.

I also remember all the promotions she did for this. Ah, good times, good times...

I loved this album, but I remember being a bit disappointed by it - I didn't think it even compared to (miss) understood. A lot of songs grew on me though, so 6 years later, I find it much better than some of her other albums (GUILTY for instance).

Man, it brings back some really nice fuzzy memories when I think about it.
