Some news about the album itself

G-Dragon has released his album tracklist for 'Coup D'etat'!

According to the tracklist, he'll have 4 title songs, and he'll be releasing his album in parts. The first part will be released online later today, the 2nd part will be released online on September 5th, and the rest of the album will be included in the physical album only, which will be released on September 13th.

EDIT: The MV is amazing, I love it I'm not really a big fan of the song so I'm glad this song won't be a title track.

EDIT II: Finished listening to the first part and god, those title songs are so boring. Hopefully CROOKED is more upbeat. I really like Niliria. R.O.D is okay.

I'm gonna say my honest opinion on what we've got so far:

1. MV is certainly fantastic and one of the best ever released by YG. a lot of symbolism, meanings and references to his career, media, himself and even his love life. to see the MV meaning explained in detail go here

2. The music (the first part of the album that has 2 title tracks) is very....lacking. nothing revolutionary and ruins the atmosphere that got created by the MV. nothing revolutionary, rather recycling, boring, unoriginal and non-emotional. really utterly dissapointing

after we got that many legendary BIGBANG hits thanks to GD and his two equally good albums, we get this really bad stuff. I honestly think that the reason for this is his touring since the beggining of the year, I can see him being tired, thanks for putting the effort in the MV though, it's mesmerizing.

and one more thing - the title tracks are so weak it hurts

if GD wanted to make Coup'd Etat he did it for me in a way that he completely messed up my opinion of him being the 100% perfected musician and turned it 360 degrees the opposite. in the music he has become too usual

I can feel him being tired

you can say I can't judge by only the 1st half of the album, but I can already feel the flow and overall music quality

now I'm scared of BB album coming in November being a huge fail, God no

TEDDY has also lost his abilities to find good melodies and sound to create hits, obviously, wonder how much the new 2NE1 album will also suffer because of that

YG got too much swag in their heads - plain stupid. it's like they're degrading. quite much. I hope they get rid of it. GD has no more swag MVs - thanks -but the music is still this style which means - too plain for my liking

I agree with this actually. I can't judge the entire album because only five tracks are out and I'm hoping the other tracks will be better than the first five. But right now, I like Heartbreaker better. Also I still meant what I said earlier about the songs but it's not his best material.

GD's music is different from Big Bang's so I'm not too concerned about that yet, but like you mentioned, it does seem like Teddy lost his touch, seeing how 2NE1's three latest songs turned out (but that's just my opinion).

I don't know much about Big Bang, but I don't really understand why YG would choose to release Do You Love Me, Gotta Talk to U, and Coup d'Etat in such close succession. Doesn't this just put the artists in competition with each other? Also, G-Dragon has already released a ton of music lately. I don't even follow Big Bang's activities and I hear about him constantly. I happened to enjoy the song Gotta Talk to U and now it will most certainly be overshadowed by Coup d'Etat simply because of G-Dragon's popularity. Furthermore, I thought 2NE1 was going to release a new song every month until their next album...? 2NE1 has been dead this past year in terms of new music and this was supposed to be their huge comeback and now this? Perhaps I don't understand how promotion cycles work, but this doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

me neither, but I'd call it the 'money grab' period. it happens to YG a lot, honestly

as for GD, YG mentioned GD wrote too much music last year that could amount to 2 full albums, and due to a lot of BB activities last year GD was unbale to promote OOAK properly and fully and release a full album, so they decided to promote the full album next summer at his b-day (as usual) so that his work wouldn't be wasted

2NE1 is supposed/was promised to release music every month indeed, so in September we should have 1 more single and a full album in October

Tae Yang should have the album this month

and BB is suppossed to have their album in November and than have a tour in Japan

currently YG launched the program the winners of which we'll be in the new YG group, aka the new BB (I think it's impossible to have a new BB but oh well)
and a new YG girl group is also supposed to come

people say that now YG's just preparing the new BB & 2NE1. his mood towards 2NE1 has certainly changed to a very indifferent one, due to the reasons uknown, and BB can probably be soon teared apart by boys going to the army

I think that my true feeling about this album is that it feels 'messy', and I again I think it's due to this massive touring, I mean having BB tour getting into OOAK tour straight after...

but I do like the 2nd album part much more than the 1st, yet this album is his weakest and is still dissapointing
