There's different reasons as to why the situation didn't work with mannie. Some interview in some mag exists where she was talking about all thatt divorce stuff and the pictures...ayu is not going to view it similarly with her dancers, especially when these pics aren't even as sensual, and she said she'd like them (truth or not?) and also this time, it was more about betrayal and images being released when they shouldn't have been and etc. Trust is a complex thing, I doubt they would naturally distrust him, not after the mannie thing, because it's not the same. And leslie's been around for a while and has done other things. People don't have to drop someone out of their lives after doing one thing wrong anyway, especially when it's more complicated than right or wrong but really about other things. A situation like this would be more so when to lose trust. Ayu's dancers just did what they wanted and so did leslie, and now ayu is involved and has to deal with it.

You seem to be on the biased track though where only if the story is awful and shows badly on ayu and dancers will it be true. Which isn't any better than the other line of bias.

Ugh, that line is coming back to bite me in the ass again. Honestly, I'm not mad or offended. Not at Ayu, not at her dancers. I'm just not surprised that the photos came out. I am not out to prove Ayu as some sort of lie-telling demon, I'm just skeptical. I do consider her one of my most favorite artists.

I don't think you're mad or anything, but I don't see the correlation with the Super Mannie book.

It was Mannie's gift. If he went to Leslie and was like "Let's sell this to further my career" It's not some sort of betrayal on Leslie's part. Or if Leslie says "Maybe we can sell this" and everyone agrees. The whole fact that it was supposed to be private is sort of irrelevant as far as that goes. That's Mannie's fault for not communicating to Ayu his true intentions, and even, who he is as a person and what he wants in life.


Also. I think some of you are projecting how you personally feel about Leslie's photography onto Ayu. Did she ever actually SAY that she didn't like the CONTENT of the photos? Did she ever say that she didn't like seeing Mannie in that particular way?

Did she ever say that she doesn't like receiving photobooks?

I think it's possible that she won't like the gift, but I think it's perfectly possible that she does like that kind of gift, and would think it's sweet. I think it's just a little superficial to think that all of this drama is happening just because Ayu doesn't like seeing her dancers a certain way. She's not like that. Give her some credit.

She seemed most angry because her relationship with Leslie put her dancers in a position where they felt lied to. And I don't think that the Super Mannie issue was some sort of warning for them at all.



And just one more dollar of all my cents. Just because Leslie had an exhibition filled with photos of the same thing, doesn't mean that other pictures he took wouldn't fit in with it. Artists do that all the time when they're exploring a particular subject.

There could be part of the story missing, but if he specifically told them the pictures would be private, and then went on to put them in an exhibition, then it's kind of fucked up, even if he thought it was harmless.
