Namie Amuro is as well-known as Ayu or Koda Kumi. I wonder why doesn't she appear in a nation, FNS or Kouhaku ?

She's not in a-nation cause she's not actually with Avex.

She doesn't go to other music shows because she said she wanted to spend New Years with Haruto

I love that she doesn't even need a lot of promotion now

She did participate in a-nation '08 though, but sadly it was never released anywhere which annoys me because I wanted to see that so badly.

I had heard rumours that Avex didn't have her performing at a-nation because when a-nation first started up Ayu was in her golden era and they didn't want th rivalry on the same stage or something of that sort
I don't know how accurate that is but I do remember reading that somewhere

Namie is not managed by avex so therefore she was just once a special guest at a-nation (and weren't here tours around that time normally?). As for Kouhaku, I just think she declined in favour of family affiars (as the 31st Dec is the holy day in japan)

I can't wait to see that PV. Preview looked so amazing! It also made me wonder if Namie is a fan of Once Upon A Time. I saw some pretty cool influences here and there tbh. Not that it bothers me. I'm obsessed too.

Namie used to appear at Kouhaku every year but she started declining the invitations sometime in the early 2000s because she didn't want to 'force' herself on the public anymore (I think these were her words or something).

At the height of her popularity she was recording shows 24/7 year-round (probably even doing MORE shows than Ayu at her height) and so she probably felt that the public wouldn't want to be suffocated with her image lol.

I'm not sure why she doesn't attend it now days, but I feel like it's one of those very traditional events for a singer and so when you start to decline the invitations, they're inclined to snub you, no matter your popularity.
