I tried to get into them around 2010 but it wouldn't work for me. It's a tad tedious to listen through an entire album of theirs. I do like a few of their original works like "Alt A", "Disdrive", "THIS IS MY SHIT" and "Flying Buttress". Is their newer stuff any good? This thread makes me happy, we haven't gotten a good discussion on ayu remixes in soooo long x_X!

My fave remixes are all ones that can be treated just as alternate versions of the songs... they're as much rearrangements as remixes really. A remix like that will get my attention ESPECIALLY if it makes me hear something in the melody I didn't notice before.

Other times I like really thick, full-sounding trance & house stuff with some kind of great synth lead hook that makes them memorable. I also like more full-sounding AO versions, and any moody or trip-hoppy type track that creates an interesting soundscape.

I have very strict guidelines about rhythm & professionalism - some remixes are awesome but they sound like the remixer didn't listen to them the whole way through to make sure it stayed on beat or to make sure the accompaniment followed vocal key changes properly. That drives me so nuts, it's like nails on a chalkboard.

I have to admit some disappointment that there aren't more replies to this thread, but given how long it's been since Ayu's remix heyday I'm not really shocked either.

In other news someone mentioned the LaB LIFe remix of "too late" above and I forgot how quirky and awesome it was, haha

^Just wanted to say that I still give her remixes listens quite a bit.

Recently I've been going back through her old remixes from her singles and the ones I've been listening to most are:

-Audience (Scud Formant Remix) (Interesting sound. I like to describe it as... soapy sounding.)
-appears (JP's SoundFactory Mix) (I love the latin guitar mixed with the electronic beat!)
-End roll (Hal's mix) (One of the first Ayumi songs I bought from iTunes in 2007... I used to listen to this a lot while doing my chores hahaha.)

Ok, so I'm a big fan of D-Z's remixes for m.o.v.e and I just found that he did several remixes for Ayumi and holy cow they're amazing, especially the SEASONS one! And Hex Hector's remix of Endless sorrow is awesome. I remember listening to this one a lot when I was younger.

I will list the remixes I love later but I just wanted to state for now that kanariya (Arranged by Yuta Nakano) brought life back to that atrocious mess that is the original mix of kanariya. Same for the fanmade from your letter (sleeperspaceborn mix).
