I always got the feeling that there may have been something about those songs that either didn't resonate well enough for her or they were just too personal.

I don't think she explicity stated something about ever free or kanariya, but it's what I feel towards this songs. She did explain about SAKURA tho iirc, on a track-by-track interview (not sure if it was for a magazine).

I'm not sure how difficult would be lowering kanariya's key. I can easily imagine how it would sound with ayu's current vocals and it's still possible.

Kanariya was always too high for me anyway! I'd love it if she lowered the key and sang the version from Acoustic Orchestra 7 some time!

i agree!! that's my only concern when ayu says something about forcing her voice to adjust to a higher key. But on the other hand, ayu did great with moving on without u at CDL.

Colours was okay overall with `Pray` being the golden track. Hoping for some good ballads in A ONE that are NOT like `Zutto...`

I am in complete agreement with you! If she does have ballads, I hope they're really good.

I don't remember if Walk was considered to be a ballad but it's definitely my favorite song from Zutto.... I would love for her to do more songs with deep, thought-provoking lyrics...

...I feel like Colours was lacking those kinds of lyrics to be honest. >.< It seemed like it was more about the melodies I guess?

lmao Colours was flawless. Unless she busts another bomb-ass producer I'm not super excited for this album. It'll be the same 'ole same 'ole. Not downplaying it or anything, especially considering the interesting album name; but the single did nothing for me (minus Last minute but even then the mastering was awful on that song).

Well ... you are all free to have your opinion etc... etc... but I don't understand what people find interesting on an album like Colours except 3 songs (pretty boring) this album is so far away from JPop ! Personally I like J-Pop because of the gap with the western music !! I mean (I keep the exemple of colours) I will never heard a song like NOW & FOREVER at the radio or anywhere in my country but songs like Lelio, XOXO, Terminal hum we are saturated by that.
Yes it was cool to hear Ayu sing songs in that style but if I compare this with the musicality & creativity of an album like Love Songs or My Story for exemple in the past I'm sorry but Colours is the artistic nothingness !

A new J-Pop album with Ayu identity is truly welcome at least for me !! It's strange the last single bring nothing new but it was fresh at the same time ! I didn't enjoy a single of Ayu like this one since years=)
