The only other closest thing I can think of are her actual covers of songs... like SEVEN DAYS WAR. But those are covers of another artist, not an original but clearly derived new work from the song.

And I'm complaining about Namie doing it because... well... it's Namie-freakin'-Amuro. She's been around for over 20 years but could sneeze into a tissue 12 times and sell 300,000 copies of it in the first week. Why copy another artist when she could write an amazing ballad with her eyes closed? In the last few years, she's written beautiful, Tempest, Love Story, and arigatou. All four easily sit among her best ballads, and none of them were the lead track on a single or album. So, it just seems unreasonable... but it's already been done and released, so it's not going to make a difference what I or anyone think about it.
Memorial address and Tell me why also have cover melodies.

And what are you talking about Namie writing original material? Namie has nearly nothing to do with the creation process of her songs, she doesn't write the songs at all, so it really makes no difference for her to release something that a previous artist already released or not, the compositions are just presented to her and she choose whichever ones she feels like it...

You are so right. I honestly never bothered to look because everyone else writes their own material. Wow. Well, you're right, it doesn't make a difference because Namie wouldn't have a career if a team of people weren't writing her albums.

To be fair, she once managed to burn down a $500,000 mansion while frolicking on the beach in a PV. So, she could always, I don't know, build a small village or something then burn that down for another PV?

She did! But I distinctly remember her crew saying that Ayu was overwhelmed by the time commitment for dance rehearsals, and that the multiple takes they shot for the dance scene left her physically drained for a couple days.

i dont think she's a bad dancer. when routines are tailored to her abilities shes actually quite good (like INSPIRE, Real me, talkin' 2 myself, etc) but then sometimes ayu is very...
I'm sure if all choreographed dances were like Ayu in that gif, she'd be a master of dance.

I don't think she is the best dancer out there but her skills usually work pretty well for the genre of music she sings, imo. I watch her concerts for all the "theatrical" experience, anyway.

She surely wouldn't.

And yet she's managing to get to the top charts while everyone is scraping
by to atleast get top 10. She has 20 years in music.

There's more artist that don't write their music than that do and that are able
to get alot of sales and have good music. Writing music doesn't make you a
singer. A good singer means dancing, acting and most importantly have
singing skills. Ayumi has good writing skills, acting and singing and thats
what makes her an amazing singer.

If you only chose singers who wrote music and lyrics, then you don't have
many to chose from.

Saying that an artist wouldn't have a career if they didn't have people writing for them is a really dumb opinion.

That doesn't make any sense. I thought that acting meant that you're an actress, dancing meant you're a dancer or performer. In that case Adele is nothing but a girl with a microphone on stage.

So you'd rather call her "a girl with a microphone" instead of "a singer" because she doesn't act and dance on stage? That's my point.

Adele I would definitely class as a singer/songwriter because the bulk of her work is singing and writing her own songs. Utada Hikaru I would class as a musician because she writes her own music, songs, and sings.

Ayu and Koda Kumi I think would fall into the singer/songwriter category, as well as the performer category because of the way they deliver their lives.

Namie I would class as a singer/recording artist/performer. She has written a song or 2 in the past but its not her m.o. She is more of a recording artist as she doesn't really have much to do with production other than singing the songs. She has a team that does her producing for her. Many singers work this way and its not a fault.
