Itano Tomomi's last single is AMAZING. Truly shows her skills imo. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXX1YtcofbQ The B track slays as hell.

I tried Itano Tomomi's last single but really it's a waste to give her such songs who could be amazing with a real strong voice. She should take vocal lesson with a teacher who could improve her voice.
I've just come across a new duet called Faint⋆Star. Their debut album is out a week ago. |

I know this thread is for female artists but as there are three girls for two men in this band, I decided to share it here. lol can be considered as the sibling of AAA. The band is under avex and their first single will be released on 08/12

Meiri Alaha isn't debut officialy yet but some songs are already published on youtube. She's a singer-dancer influenced by Rnb and 70’s funk according to her official website.

One female artist I just stumbled about is KIRA.
She's an urban, dancehall and reggea/reaggeaton inspired artist (similar to MUNEHIRO) and just released her debut album "Listener Killer" in February this year. She's officially active since 2012, most collabo songs from earlier are on the album (she started with those like most of the artists from this genre). If you like upbeat and dance with a strong voice, check her out. She's currently nominated as Next Break Artist at the VMAJs with her PV for Nadeshiko SOUL. Nadeshiko SOUL short version JEALOUSY full PV Listener Killer album preview Her official website: http://kiranomahou.net/ Her blog: http://ameblo.jp/kirarhyy/ If somebody wants the album, I can upload.

^I will try this artist as you shared the album.
I discovered a very atypical artist. If you like only the mainstream or the edm and so on go on your way because her music is very non-conformist, original and modern. Here is the profil of Hatis Noit Quote:
Mutyumu (the sound is more "classic") Magdala (idem) |

charisma.com is absolutely fantastic! they're been on my radar for a little while now (bought ai ai syndrome, soon di stopping). they feed a desire for newness and fill the void left by halcali. can't not love them.
i've had a crush on Hanae for a while too now. ![]() Hitomi Kaji is interesting. I want to like her way more than I do, but her songs are just...kinda bland. :/ There is something there though. She kind of reminds me Takasugi Satomi in a few ways, which is worisome. Takasugi had two good albums, a third that was bland, followed by a cover album on a different label. Now, her official website links you back to her talent agent's headsheet. She had soo much potential!!! ;__________; Faint⋆Star reminds me of Vanilla Beans. Cute stuff. Aoi Eir and Leo Ieri are both cool too, if familiar sounding in the vaste soundscape of jpop. These are girls whose development will be interesting to follow. Suiyoubi no Campanella is great! Woooah! Thanks for sharing them! Seriously cool and interesting stuff, really refreshing. ![]() Hatis Noit is amazing! Spent a lot of time listening through youtubes last night, and she is great. At first reminded me of Azam Ali, then Bjork, Miu Sakamoto and Kate Havnevik all swishing back and forth like waves. Illogical Lullaby is absolutely incredible! There are some things happening in jpop, even if it's not earth shattering, there is still talent and energy going around for us to enjoy. ![]() |

... The vast majority of these artists are uninspiring. It's like they could all sing each other's songs and not seem out of place.
NM is my favorite of the bunch, but Save me and Arigatou Forever... were a little too plain compared to 7 WONDERS. I hope her next single is less generic. lol sounds great. I like the K-Pop feel they have. But they still suffer from the same generic electronic pop sound. What made Ayu, Namie, Hikki and Koda different was they each had a certain mix they did well. Ayu was very elaborate, ethereal, big sounds, big melodies. Namie was R&B/Hip Hop dance and simple ballads. Utada was otherworldly, emotional, experimental pop -- she worked with a lot of different song styles. And Koda was slutty pop, you know, the kind of ass-shaking, throw off your clothes and have sex with yourself kind of pop... and a few ballads similar to Ayu's stuff here and there. Apart from their own styles, they each released things differently too. Koda released a ton of new music every year. Namie was sparse in her releases, but toured most of the year. And Ayu was about equal studio and touring time. Hikki is the artist that releases a few singles then an album that outsells everyone else then disappears again for a few years. But overall, all four of the big names were different from very early in their career. You couldn't mix up a Koda track and Ayu track, or a Namie track and Hikki track. You could easily tell what made a Koda tour a Koda tour and not an Ayu tour. And, for the most part, those things are still true today. None of these artists, barring Leo Ieiri and Kana Nishino, are different enough from each other to make me think any of them have a shot at moving forward. I did think Itano Tomomi had a good shot, but every release of hers is something different from the last one, enough so that I can't really tell what her music is. Her voice is at least distinctive. So, maybe the next big things are a little ways off. It did take 20 years before the 80s idols were swept away by Utada, Ayu, Koda, and Namie. We may not see the next big female artists for another 4 or 5 years. Edit: It's also worth noting that none of these artists are releasing material frequently enough to gain traction. With as much as 12 months between singles, and having debuted just a couple years ago, there's no way these artists are going to get enough attention to grow a fanbase.
