I enjoyed the album. It sounds really soft and smooth. I thought Lana said a honeymoon is like living the dream according to her, and the album did carrying me away to some kind of a dream state ("Dreaming away your life" - last sentence of the Honeymoon title track). In other words, this album defines the concept of the honeymoon as she described. Overall I think she did wonderful.
I received my copies yesterday and found it somehow awesome that she has only put the key lines of each song in the booklet. No full lyrics (except for Honeymoon) and not even the name of the tracks. I do not know why but it intrigued me. The booklet pictures are romantic. Not something you did not see yet, but it is very, well, dreamy. Judging the songs seperately I have my favourites: Honeymoon, God Knows I Tried, High By The Beach, Salvatore, The Blackest Day and 24. 24 is so gorgeous I can't. There is no song I really dislike. I think it is Art Deco and Freak I am less fond of. Anyway it's good music, I am happy with the release. Sure, it is not as catchy as her debut, but conceptually wise Honeymoon wins! She has now three nice albums. |
