I bought the Love "mini" but not Again mini album because in the cover was someone I don't even remember his name, now that I think about that time I wonder what was she thinking in everything she d id back then. Then I bought the Love Again album but I felt betrayed somehow for buying a single instead of a labeled mini. ( Sometimes I listen to my Love mini when I want to listen the remixes lol)

It's sad because both of those releases were the best she had in a while at the time. But after knowing Ayu was in such a bad state of mind... I sort of understanding. |

^ The maxi singles were always marketed as singles, and while Love and Again were actual singles, we were told otherwise by Avex so people weren't prepared for the bait and switch. Looking back, it's completely obvious but hindsight is always 20/20.
I wasn't too shocked about the Maro scandal since American culture is filled with that type of garbage and I'm accustomed to it, lol. Ayu was so unlike herself during that time. |

It was so obvious that LOVE and again were singles in disguise that it amused me when the shitstorm began. I never treated them as mini albums tbh.

I guess they marketed them as mini albums cause that year neither Party Queen nor A SUMMER BEST got to #1 on Oricon weekly, and if she didn't get a #1 it would break one of her streaks (at least one #1 per year since Idon'tknowwhen). Both failed to be #1 tho (but A CLASSICAL was, unfortunately only on the following year)

I'm in love with Shape of Love. It reminds me of the simplistic type of song that could've been on her earlier releases.

^ SCAR is so beautiful and sad.
Speaking of, I like how Duty was a precursor to the rock style we would eventually get on I am... and the signature rock style Ayu would develop. I love songs like End of the World because (even though it may still be a bit rough) Ayu feels so natural in that genre. |

Duty is great. The only songs I skip is Audience (I've always felt like it was a rushed cheap attempt at recreating that B&G, Trauma, etc anthem feel).

AUDIENCE is flawless and she should bring it back and ditch Movin' on without you from concert setlists permanently.

When I was younger and had a lot of trouble sleeping, I uploaded A Complete: All Singles onto my iPod and would always listen to the 2nd disc. It would help me fall asleep but would usually take a while. Now, Seasons, Surreal, and Audience makes me think of bedtime. I don't think Audience is a great song but it's wonderful when I'm laying in bed at nighttime. It almost feels magical. XD

Duty is definitely a great album, but I agree with Exodus on AUDIENCE. That song would have fit better on LOVEppears. End of the World and SCAR are some hidden gems in Ayu's discography. teddy bear and girlish too.

Some gems like girlish are best kept hidden
![]() I like the song, but Ayu's nasally vocals are so bad, haha. And, um, Key anyone? I agree on Audience. It feels a lot like Trauma's ugly little sister or something. The reason I dislike it is because of its mixing in both Duty and A COMPLETE. Whichever version of the song you like, you end up losing details in one or the other. |

I listen to Audience when I need my mood to clean my bedroom and such things. Also Loveppears is a good album for cleaning and wash dishes too. Lol

Wasn't there a bit of speculation that the final release during that period, the release that turned out to be LOVE again, would include songs from the previous "mini"s? I vaguely remember predictions about that and some members were adamant that such an occurrence basically impossible. Then the track list was revealed and they were forced to drink an ocean of truth tea and I'm not gonna lie, I thought that was a bit glorious.

I love AUDIENCE live but it is sooo out of place in the Duty album. Destroys the whole flow of the album. I always skip it.
