I still play A ONE often. Story is the only song I'm indifferent about.

I also found The GIFT mediocre at best. She said she cried when listening to the song for the first time. I begin to suspect that's because of how horrible it sounds that she couldn't help but cry at her career choices.
I really, really love A ONE except for Anything for You (such a Walk rip-off). Previously I was indifferent about Out of control, but I fell in love with it after seeing the performance at the ARENA TOUR. |

Yeah too bad NO FUTURE was surrounded with mostly such uninspired filler songs. When she said that this was the same Ayu that wrote my story I was expecting a masterpiece or something but its ok because Ayu only releases stuff she likes!!! lol |

I really like A One it's the kind of album that I won't listen it as a whole because it a bit too much monotonous but this album definitely sounds like a synthesis of her discography all songs sound like a song she has done in the past ! Is it bad or good ? everyone has their own opinion but to me this album really proves that Ayu created her own sound over the years and I respect it...BUT I think she is able of much better...

^Yes, A ONE is special in that way, ayu creating her own sound I agree with you.
The only song I don't like too much is the Gift and Out Of Control but the rest are very good. Story is the best song in the album with The Show Must Go On and NO FUTURE. I hope this new album have some A ONE feeling in one song or two. |

Besides "Anything for You" and "Walk" there is not much on "A ONE" that I would truly want to listen to more than once or twice.
"WARNING" for example is the epitome of loudness. Feels like Ayu is yelling at me all the time, but why would she do that? Rockish songs like "Because of You" perfectly work without excessive shouting. The kick-bass in "WARNING" is really hurtful if you listen to your music with in-ears. "NO FUTURE", "Last minute" and "The Show Must Go On" aren't any better. Loud, distorted and excessive with no real substance. "Tell All" is basically the same. It's Original mix was unbearably noisy, the Album mix is a tad better, regarding the instrumental. All in all I can say that I have tried but "A ONE" still feels like a torture to listen through in full. |

I like A ONE, but tbh for a while now I only feel like listening to WARNING, NO FUTURE and MOWY...

I liked A ONE but it's dreadfully boring... if it were a color, it'd have to be either beige or light grey because that's what it sounds like to me

A One and Six(...), to me, are so listenable. i still listen to those songs happily even though, 2015 was all about those two albums (4.2015-8.2015 a one, 8.2015- ongoing sixx).
For me its one of her best years

I mean, the truth is this: it doesn't really matter how long Ayu has been in the business, or how successful she's been. The whole point of her job, as an entertainer, is to entertain people. And when you start slipping on that, you've got to pull yourself together, take the criticism, and do something useful with it. If I worked for a company for 15 years then showed up one day and said, "I'm only going to do the work I'm happy doing because I've been so successful for your company for so long, and I don't want to be a product of yours," would I still have a job? Big, well-known, super successful artists tend to get so used to the platform that they don't realize it's a privilege to be there year after year, even if you've been there year after year. This is where I have to hand it to Namie because she took the horrifyingly bad sales and media criticism and did something useful with it, in the form of listening to her label and fans more, and came back as THE artist when all the solo artists were losing their chart positions. And you know, Namie gets that you're never done proving yourself when it comes to what you do. Just because you've been good at it for awhile, it doesn't mean the next set of strangers gets the memo. You've got to make yourself relevant to them. So, I hope Ayu sees any of this discussion at any point, even if it's one of her people who mentions it, because it's pretty clear that Ayu's shift from proving herself year after year to just doing whatever looks interesting hasn't helped her career. Ayu has got to try harder, and she has to make this look like hard work, because the things she's done on tour every year for the last ten years look like second nature rather than delicate planning and hard effort.
