Ayu ~Anything Goes~ XV (AHS' Ayumi Hamasaki General Discussion Thread)

Has anyone saw this interview of Ayu on a HK talk show (26 february 2016) ?


It's not THAT interesting, but here are some things :
- She loves being in HK and she will surely return one day in the future to perform.
- She didn't keep in touch with the actor with whom she shot glitter/fated in 2007 (Shaun Yue or something like that), and she didn't see his recent movies (she apologizes for that)
- "You know."
- She talks about JJ Lin and that "amazing song" that was The GIFT (lol). JJ sung something like "lalala oooh" (funny part)
- "You know."
- She had a Chinese-singing training
- She knows how to name herself in Mandarin and Cantonese (Wow such great, so interesting)
- She basically doesn't have free-time, at least, she doesn't want to. She always writing, and doesn't take a rest from her work.
- The interviewer says that she achieved a lot of records, and asks her if she has any goal for the future. Basically, she doesn't care and "F*ck U, I'm Ayu".
- "You know."
- "There are sunny days and rainy days. We need rainy days. I don't need a sunny day every day."
- "You know."
- "Be strong, be brave"
- The interviewer asks her if she is fashionable even at home (lol), and her husband (off-camera) says that she's always elegant, even in pajamas XD
- "You know."
- She doesn't have really privacy outside her home, but she doesn't care. "I don't care, I'm Ayu." (she doesn't say it like that, but it's basically like that)
- "You know."
- To her fans : "Be true to yourself."

Yeah, we saw it. Ayu's English is very good now but it has a lot of that informalness to it that she has in her Japanese at times. Personally I see no reason to ridicule it.

My favorite is how she refers to the song she did together with him as "GIFT." Lol. She completely drops "The" and it's funny because I know as fans sometimes we are so anal about the stylization of the song titles and referring to them by their proper names and then Ayu herself goes on television and refers to it not so precisely.

I loved Love Again and I wasn't upset about the whole mini-album/single thing because it was painfully obvious it was going to happen the minute Avex the "5 consecutive releases for 5 months" thing. Ivy, Sweet Scar, Song 4 U, Petal, Wake Me Up, Snowy Kiss, Missing, Melody and Sakura are some of my favourites in recent years.

These were also my favorite tracks, minus Snowy Kiss and Missing (too hectic for me!). Though the quality of the songs was lacking, I found her vocals to be quite wonderful.

Didn't she also correct someone when they called it "GIFT" last year? lol I found it so funny because I remembered she was like "no bitch it's THE gift", and now she dropped "the" as well haha But I might remember it wrong

I think it is sonically weak, but I find the lyrics very touching. That's the reason I like it so much.

The way Ayu hyped up and still continues to talk about the song, like the song is the best thing ever and a blessing from god really makes me question her taste levels...

I guess the demo was amazing and all, but in ayu's discography it definitely doesn't stand out

She has far better songs in her discography as for the genre in question. I do not understand such a high praise for The GIFT.

The GIFT is lame. i skip it everytime i listen to A ONE. i'd choose songs like Anything for You over it anytime

It's a gift by a short guy in Taiwan who's local fans like Ayu for promoting his song and foreigners buy copies Taiwanese albums since they're cheaper than from Japan so their economy runs on Ayu and ha fans pretty much.

^ I expected some sense and the song not making it to the final cut of the album. The song ain't shit, but it just doesn't stand out. Unfortunately ayu seems to be in love with the song and that's when we needed someone to question her on what she's doing, which is a topic I guess was discussed recently in this thread. I say The GIFT is not on pair with the other ballads on A ONE, and seems like there is a handful of people here who agree with it. Thing is, I don't know how her Asian fans reacted to it, and since that's the market she's focused on, there is nothing left for us to do except discuss it, which everyone seems to be doing so, and without rude comments which is great
