Max Matsuura BACK to avex

You all call it nonsense but I call it business. Business is cut-throat, especially in the entertainment industry. Max had strategy that worked for him in the long run, so good for him. Now it's up to him though to rebuild AVEX.

You all complain stating that Ayu should move to another label. Maybe since Max is back he'll give her more freedoms. Maybe she doesn't want more freedoms. We have to wait and see what she does next. She has a lot of pull when it comes to this company, in the long run she could get almost anything she would want. Especially now.

More remixes? I'm sorry but remixes are no longer as popular as they use to be. That's why they aren't all over the singles anymore.

It's not really about popularity as much as it is that people will buy her singles regardless so it just doesn't make sense for Avex to spend the money on the remixes. The ten track singles disappeared after they were moving more money into more artists. Ayu was making up too much of their profits and as a company it's not wise to have that much resting on the shoulders of one artist.

You're right. I've said that about negotiations and strategies, but it's become obvious that no one has read the posts in this thread and/or chooses to ignore what we've, and other people, have said.

I have a cute way of explaining the whole situation, but I think that trying to convince people that it wasn't a publicity stunt is a huge waste of my time.

Nah, definitely not a publicity stunt. Avex lost money; just check the stocks. It only would have been a publicity stunt if it actually attracted the fans to buy more Avex products. (For example, Ayu says she's leaving, Avex re-releases old singles, fans buy them, Ayu announces she's rethought her decision, Avex makes out like a bandit.) And I don't know about you guys, but now I feel a little dirty thinking about Avex. I didn't want to buy more stuff during all this, it only made me a little anxious. I was rooting for Matsuura to start his own company, too. It would be refreshing to see Ayu under a new label. Now Avex just seems stale and weak to me.

I'm sure it was pretty much just as reported. A steamy fight broke out during a production meeting, the generations collided, and the passionate visionary Matsuura stormed out and made a rash (albeit refreshing) decision. Then, a few days later, after the sea had calmed down, some sense was talked into both sides and compromises were able to be made with smiles rather than gritted teeth.

No doubt Avex's bonus treatment to Max was to keep him from actually considering leaving again, but they can afford it, so why not. Personally, I think he's done enough for the company to deserve something more. I don't think he was holding out for it, though.

Besides, if this was a stunt, it would mean that Max and maybe even Ayu herself would have to have been in on it. And do we really want to question the integrity of Ayu and her mentor? It would be really disappointing...
