I woke up like an hour ago and I'm listening now to the album, I'm listening Survivor by now, and I'm so enthusiastic about the sound of the album that I could cry!
Even though I loved A ONE last year, I haven't felt like this about an Ayu's album since 2010 with Love songs.

as a fan for many years like many of the members here I like to think that I'll always feel a little disappointed on her but come back and think that she always manage to have a new peak, standout song or sound on her albums that make me think "that's so Ayu, that's what I love about her", that I never see myself that disconnected from her like some fans that post a lot more than me here may seem to be. she's always showing me that "thing" I looked up on her when I became a fan without even realizing.

it can happen in a 2, 5 year break, but it always happen.

You are the only one is that soothing, smooth and big whisper that told me this again today, after many albums.

I like your post a lot, and I think many of us, if not all of us, can relate. It's the thing that keeps us all hanging on, even when we might feel disappointed or inclined to complain and/or critique. Because as you said, it can happen in a 2, 5 year break, bit it always happens. And we don't want to miss out on the next time it does.

You should post more, this is my favorite post I've read in a long time.

It's something I realized around MY STORY or (miss)understood, I think.

Ayu has that It Factor and we see a bit of it every album but it hasn't been so obvious that she has it in a while.

So glad her signature howl (you know what I mean?) which she kinda brought back for Last minute are in full effect on this album especially in Flower. Its one of my favorite things about her voice! Its so distincly ayu.

Anyone played Deemo? That's where the song come from.

I still like tasky a lot though.
I don't think it's an intentional thing but likely a similar sample use again as with the other tasuku interludes. Shamisen samples are always amazing though!

You took the words right out of my mouth. I was just thinking about this. Listening to the album. I'm not someone with very strong opinions about her music and it's still very much a big part of my life. But sometimes, there are little things, in her songs that makes them sound less...of standard? Nonetheless, we still follow her every release. And while listening to this album, I didn't feel like "Ayu is back!" (that was what I felt for A ONE Lol) but I had the thought that "Yes, this is why I love her so much. This is why her music is so strong for me. Her music actually SPEAKS to me." like what you mentioned. I think Ayu really chooses the right songs that not only resonate in her but hope can resonate in us too.

I thought Breakdown was my favorite at first, but Mad World without a doubt is. I can feel her heart so strongly in this one. I keep getting strong waves of emotion while listening to it, like it's teetering on the verge of bringing me to full on tears. Her voice is flawless in it too - she sounds so good when she gives into the current state of her voice naturally and utilizes that deep tone within music that works with it rather than against it.

Yea right?? She has this really mature tone in the verse and it just escalates into something so raw. There's this vastness in the chorus which is very cool. And the music feels so current to me. It even reminds me of Pink's "Try", especially the part when it softens after the chorus.

Has anyone noticed that the drum part in FLOWER's choruses is very similar to the bridge in Sorrows? Damn, this song is so fresh! I was expecting something traditional for such a long time and I finally got it.

Also, Breakdown do sounds similar to Shape of Love but in a good way.

Agree with Zeke, Mad World just goes smoothly with her vocals.

tasky reminds me SO MUCH of Björk's Pagan Poetry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqF8_UcUQdQ (video NSFW)

I really love the flow of this album. Most of the songs are a grower, but I'm sure I'll come to like them better. So much potential.

I'm so annoyed of artists releasing everything in this format lol first Drake, then Beyoncé and now Ayu. I barely go on my laptop anymore and I'm too impatient to download the tracks LOL. I'll just see y'all in June.

I know! I'm jealous of those who get to listen to FLOWER, Mad World, and Breakdown live.

In actuality, those are the songs I feel the strongest about and will jump from one to the next for quite some time. In retrospect, I guess I got the same amount of enjoyment out of A ONE with WARNING, No Future, and The Show Must Go On.

You are absolutely right! I'm a big Bjork fan and I'm totally surprised I didn't notice the similarity of the intro between the two!

Especially shouty songs like FLOWER. It's recorded with live performance in mind.

Actually, tasky reminds me of Sa Ding Ding's work, because she always blends electronica with asian sounds.

Too impatient to download the tracks right now, but patient enough to wait another 2 months? Makes sense. Lol.
