Guys, Miliyah is so healthy. I follow all her social media consistently. She's very fit always working out, and constantly posts what she's eating. She's just very careful with what she puts in her body. And maintains her health.

Yeah she's always been slim and got slimmer. But I feel she got slimmer because she started working out more in the recent years. Plus I doubt Under Armour would have intensely campaigned with her to sell their products if they didn't view her as a healthy role model for physical health.

Before I really put in the effort with bulking I was 48 kilos for a really long time and I was really healthy at that weight. And could maintain intense levels of physical fitness. I used to do 200 sit ups a day in 2012. I've bulked up a lot since then though. But I'm just saying very thin people an be very fit if they do right. And Miliyah seems to be doing it right.

Her level of fitness is one of the reasons she's my favorite singer of all time. I can really relate because I'm really into fitness. When I stay on task I go to the gym 6 days a week. And I do a lot of Pilates & Yoga on top of eating really healthy. Seriously the amount of $ I spend at health food stores haha. So coming from someone who's very into physical health I can tell Miliyah seems very healthy. Obviously only from what I know though. Which is just her highlight reel. Could not reflect the reality.

Alot of Asian food is freakishly high in sodium too, which Miliyah seems to avoid judging by the food she eats. (A lot of shaved ice) which is low in sodium and calories. She also seems to eat a lot of fruit, vegetables which is obviously good for you. And various meat so she's getting her protein in to maintain her strength.

Anyways eating too much sodium puffs you out so much. So people who eat a lot of unhealthy Asian food will end up with what I call "Sodium Face". Like Selena Gomez (aka Sodium Gomez), whos favorite food is a pickle one of the most sodium filled things to eat. Perfectly explains her baby face. No shade I actually love her last album. So Miliyah won't have that puffiness which makes her slimmer & more refined. Also Miliyah is petite af at 4'11". She's probably smaller then a majority of people. So when making comparisons she seems malnourished. But no she's just very tiny and fit.

Anyways rant over. I've just seen a lot of people coming for Miliyah about her slenderness not only on here but in the news and other forums. Plus I like to dispel the myth that being very skinny is unhealthy. It just depends how you get skinny and maintain it. Which Miliyah seems to be doing the healthiest way possible.

Anyways my 2 cents on Utopia, I do love the album. But it's easily Miliyah's worst studio album for me. I do admire she did such a dramatic departure from LIBERTY. Even though I didn't want her too. It's amazing how she's always changing and evolving in a positive way. I love 少女時代 (Girlhood) it's such an interesting track and pretty experimental. I love how it's a ballad/rap. Never heard that genre mix before. This song is already up to 97 plays! Miliyah does some epic genre mixes. I love how she mixed New Age & R&B in tracks like cry no more and U gatta understand. Anyways back to Utopia I love BE the chorus is generic but the verses are smooth and cool af. Interesting she re used the lyrics "Wanna Be". especially since the album is so different to LIBERTY. Utopia is a pretty cool track. I feel It's going to grow on me a lot. It's definately memorable. I like MOON mainly because it uses synthesizers it's boring besides that though. My shirt with the Kawi Jamele Gemma (Miliyah's clothing brand) summer 2015 moon print arrived a couple days ago and I blasted this song on repeat haha. The rest of the album is still growing on me. Slow ballads aren't really my thing. I love some but it takes a long time for me to really get attached. Want you back is the worst song on LIBERTY imo. But I love the other ballads on it!

P.S I love Ayumi's A Ballads and I was like finally I love a full on ballad album. But after some research on discogs apparently it's not a ballad album. It's "Soft Rock". and other genres. Hahahaha. I know some songs are ballads. But why would she name it A Ballads. It's a very diverse album. Some songs aren't even soft haha. Anyways going off track. Love you to anyone to read my word vomit peace x

Exactly same here!! I've gained a lot of weight and I want to gain even more in the next few years. I'm naturally slim and don't really like being like that so it gets on my nerves everytime someone comments about a person being too slim, I can't help it. Btw how much time did you need to bulk like you are right now? I'm also really into fitness, I think we could be good friends, if only you weren't at the other part of the globe lol

Awh you're so sweet haha! I gained like 12 kilos in 2015 it only took around 4-6 months? Since then I've been fluctuating constantly. Losing gaining losing gaining. but always going back to around 60kg I'm trying to hit 75.

Yeah there's people out there who struggle to gain weight. It's just less common when there's people like us who don't love that we struggle to gain weight. I've gone to doctors about my lack of appetite before and they've had no idea what to do with me. I saw my doctor 2 days ago and apparently I'm having constant allergic reaction to something which could be destroying my appetite. We're not sure what. I'm on a lot of medication now though hopefully it will fix it ha. You've really just got to figure out all the reasons you're struggling to gain weight.

Are you eating too little aka under 2500 calories a day
(When i'm bulking I try to eat 4000 per day)
are you eating a balanced diet
and keep it to light cardio because that makes you lose weight!
Don't run too much!
Focus on weight training!

It's 80% diet 20% exercise. You need to do both though to gain/maintain muscle.

I highly recommend the app my fitness pal. It's helped me immensely!

Well this is a conversation I never expected to have on a Japanese music forum haha sorry everyone for being so off topic. In my defence it started out being related to Jpop.

Okay, but there is a reason people "come for her" about her slenderness. Yes, we do realize that you can be slim and healthy. But you also have to realize that there is a line. And you can't know for sure whether she's healthy or not, as you seem to claim to be true in the first line of your post. We can only judge by her looks and what she puts out on her social media, which by the way, you still can never know what happens behind the scenes.

I also don't understand why people are getting so defensive about this. Of course we're going to get worried and comment on someone who we like who *seems* to start to look unhealthy. Again, we don't know anything, we can only speculate by what we see. You might very well be right and I really hope that you are, don't get me wrong.

As far as I'm concerned, the way she looks is very questionable for me - and while your posts are keeping me hopeful that she is indeed healthy, I again have doubts.

This image especially freaks me out:

Alright we're on the same page! I did say "Obviously only from what I know though. Which is just her highlight reel. Could not reflect the reality".
That photo did concern me. Believe me I was where everyone else was at from my first impressions of her. I've had so many people in my life suffer from anorexia and or bulimia (My ex of 3 years was bulimic) so I always have my guard up for any signs of that. I haven't seen anything with Miliyah. Either that or she's a pro at hiding it. I guess for me seeing ribs is pretty normal.

Plus the lighting in that photo really amplifies the skeletalness of it all. In certain lighting my ribs look similar to that. And my BMI is around 20 within the healthy range. I know a lot of people hate BMI though haha.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BG_SyYnAOq0/ (Same outfit different lighting she looks fine imo)

I now see your concerns come from genuine car for her health which I appreciate. Seriously, why I get so defensive over this topic is because a lot of people are against really skinny people. I just like to send the message that not all really skinny people are unhealthy. It can be done in a healthy way. which seems to be how Miliyah is doing it. She posts sooooo much food on her social media. Which I'll assume she's eaten haha. Then we do see her work out a lot on top of that. And drink health drinks.

Anyways I'm glad if I could give any hope and make anyone believe Miliyah is potentially healthy. It's nice to know people do care about Miliyah's health and it's not just an skinny shaming thing

I do see what you mean, on those magazine pics she does look a lot healthier. And in some other pictures on her instagram which makes me happy to see.

I don't know why I'd skinny shame anyone. I know people all look different and come in different "sizes" naturally. And I myself was a very skinny child naturally who ate normally so it's not like that is something super alien to me. But just like you, Miliyah is one of my favorite artists (if not all time favorite) and if I see something that I feel looks a bit too extreme - I react by putting that out there. Simply out of concern.

IMO, literally all of Jpop artists are quite skinny but all have always looked normal to me. Especially taking in consideration that Asian people are naturally leaner. But I've never seen anyone really looking like Miliyah does. Now, that probably does have to do with her exercise program - but it's just that - I've never really seen any other Jpop artist looking like that and I got concerned.

In any case, thank you so much for your posts. They really made me feel better about this whole thing with her. I was almost convinced she had an eating disorder but now I see that might not be the case after all which I seriously hope for.

Yeah it's good you call out your concerns, especially since they come from a good place the reason Miliyah's body type is so concerning is because of how rare it is. One she's abnormally short and abnormally fit & lean. That combination is very rare. Because she's so small it really amplifies everything. Plus it's very rare to see someone maintain being that lean and small. Supermodels probably have the same body fat percentage as Miliyah but it's not as concerning because they're so tall they don't look fragile. Miliyah just has a very rare body type that people aren't used too. Also because it's so hard to achieve. So I applaud her for being able to gain and maintain it in a hopefully healthy way.

Plus seeing how energetic she is live and in her videos. I doubt she'd be able to keep up if she wasn't healthy. Her energy never screams malnourished. It would be impossible for her to keep up with all that choreography and exercise if she wasn't eating properly.

Sorry for all my word vomit. Fitness and body weight is something I deal with daily. So it's something I'm always thinking about. So I just have a lot of opinions on it all hahaha. Also I've marathoned like 3 seasons of Top Model, where they constantly tell the models to eat and show their diet/exercise routine and how they maintain being lean. Tyra literally said one episode "I ate throughout my whole career" after she surprised the models with a buffet of soul food haha. If anything the show increased my appetite more hahaha.

P.S I learned the best recipe from top model Kale Pesto Pasta it's soo good it's like my favorite thing to eat now haha

In a majority of Asian culture the spectrum of what's skinny is a lot harsher. I always thought Utada Hikaru was skinny in her video "Prisoner of Love" and when I'd show the video to white people they'd say she's skinny. But showing my Asian friends they said she's fat. O_o she has become a lot more refined and lean since then though.

Again Miliyah's Body type height, weight, body fat percentage are all a rare combination. The only other celebrities I can think of with a similar body type are the Veronica's. They've had to battle off people thinking they have eating disorders. http://www.news.com.au/entertainment...cbded69e4e0959 They've been that abnormally slender and lean for a long time now. And have to prove again and again that they're healthy. I too was in the majority believe they weren't. But now I do believe they're healthy after more research. Zoe Kravitz (Who I adore to death) had a similar body type to Miliyah's but I'm not sure how healthy that was because she did it for the movie Mad Max playing an anorexic character. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...-anorexic.html
I feel we freak out when we see slender frames based on how rare it is. Very few people have the self control to maintain such a strict diet and exercise routine. And most people into fitness want to be more muscular and lean rather then slender and lean.

And thank you for reading all my word vomit. I was just ranting the facts I've gathered that I believe to be true It was nice having someone to converse with on this topic!

I feel like I need to have coffee, a cigarette, a beer, a box of doughnuts, and another package of Nutter Butters just to sanitize myself of this.

I mean, congratulations! But also, you're not going to get any younger or further from dying. I've lost genuine count of how many people just like you get to their mid 30's, get terminal cancer, and die by their early 40's.

And I'll admit I'm bitter. Today, people too often judge others by how many pounds of organic kale they eat each week. It's loathsome and quickly becoming the new unreasonable standard for beauty or attractiveness.

^thank you.

Honestly, good for you, but please put your talk about all this stuff elsewhere. Go open a thread or something, I don't care. But as someone who is dealing with an eating disorder I honestly don't give a fuck how triggered you are because people are worried Miliyah might not be healthy. Please, discuss your kale reicipes somewhere else, because I would be really happy if there is one place on earth I dont have to deal with people telling me how to eat healthy, when there are days it would be in my best interest to eat a pizza.

Yo I feel you, I felt I was getting way off topic. I don't get triggered . I did get carried away though. Hence why I kept calling it all word vomit ha. I was in no way telling everyone to be healthy. You do you. I just wanted to diminish anything I felt was incorrect about Miliyah. No one has to love Kale it's just something I personally love. Believe me everyone thinks I'm weird for it

Anyways sorry for getting everything so side tracked guys. Hopefully this will be the last of the health talk.

P.s No judgement Pizza is my favorite thing to eat hahaha

Talking

Guys I keep digging and finding such interesting information. The legendary Ryuichi Sakamoto wrote "BABYLON" with Miliyah. The piano in the song is sampled from his very successful haunting piano ballad "Energy Flow".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btyhpyJTyXg

It has nearly 6 million views!

Guess this is the closest I'll get to seeing BABYLON live. Praying she'll perform it at the Utopia tour.. Does anyone have any information about the set list?

I found this out in the funniest way. I shazamed BABYLON to see how many Shazams it has and instead of coming up with "Miliyah - BABYLON" it came up with Ryuichi. I was just listening to his latest album earlier today too. It's breathtaking. His part in LIBERTY really explains how the album is so effortlessly experimental since he's known world wide for being experimental he seems to have a very big cult following, even in the west.

Me and other random lovely people on Wikipedia have been working on a LIBERTY page so check it out even add stuff. I filled in a lot of information on how Grimes's album "Art Angels" was an influence. There's so much proof!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libert...ah_Kato_album)

I find it so ironic because I listened to Art Angels for the first time a month before I listened to LIBERTY. That was my first album for both artists as well. This influence also explains why the album nailed alternative pop.

https://www.discogs.com/Miliyah-Liberty/release/8503347

Besides BABYLON Miliyah seems to have written all her lyrics by herself. The only songs besides BABYLON that feature other writers is FUTURE LOVER but that's only Daft Punk's credits because she sampled them. I know I said i'll shut up about the health talk but I was at the gym and "Future Lover" was in my playlist and on the gym TV Screen "One More Time" came on hahaha. Then there's Piece Of Cake but I feel Miliyah solo wrote her part and Kazunobu Mineta worte his part. So she pretty much wrote the whole damn thing except my favorite song ironically.

Sorry for all the word vomit once again. This is my place to vent about LIBERTY. God I thought I'd be at least a little bit moved on from it. Guess not.

Seriously I noticed something weirdly specific about my top 3 albums.

1 - No Doubt - Return Of Saturn

2 - Miliyah LIBERTY duh

3 - Grimes - Art Angels

They ALL have pink hair on the cover. The little drawing on the side of the Art Angels art work as pink hair. And they all feature the sky. I listen to so much music so I just find this so ironic that my top 3 have similar album art. I'm probably overthinking it. But still it's weird! I didn't even think I liked pink hair. The way I carried on when my hair turned pink haha. Now I want everyone to release a pink hair album. Surprised Ayumi hasn't done that yet her pink hair looked amazing. Everyone tell me if you know of any more pink haired albums! That show the sky and feature a lot of solo written songs because that's the 3 main things these have in common! Peace haha

for pink-haired albums I'd say Aoyama Thelmas latest works and maybe JASMINES Complexx.

I still can't get into Utopia. The only song that sticks with me is Shoujo Jidai. The rest of the album feels so insignificant. Which is sad because I can't even forget the tracks from LIBERTY I didn't necessarily like.

I don't think Sakamoto wrote BABYLON with Miliyah, she just sampled his work. I'm just saying this because it interested me that what you wrote sounded like they actually worked together which I don't think was the case at all. Anyway, I was intrigued by that ever since I got my LIBERTY album and saw it written in the booklet - I looked it up and ever since then Energy flow is in my music library!

Oh, also - nice effort on the wikipedia page for the album. However, I feel like a lot of what's written there is completely subjective and not something you'd read on other artists' wikipedia for their albums. Just my opinion of course. For example, stating that the fans felt this and that - but who are these fans exactly? It's easy to base this info on what we, the international fans feel here on different boards or on a few fan reviews, but what about the actual Japanese fans? And we international fans are not such a huge number of people. Then again, nice effort!

THANK YOU! She has pink hair and it shows the sky! I'm so shocked more exist! Hahaha. Is this a trend seriously tf. She's also showing midriff like Miliyah & Gwen. She fits in perfectly lmao.

I feel you seriously. I keep forgetting about it. I do however have a few tracks I love. 少女時代, BE & Utopia. I just keep telling myself I love that she constantly is trying new things and changing it up. I'm hoping she's letting out all this mellowness and will produce some killer tracks next LP.

See I was thinking that it could be another "Daft Punk" situation, but "Energy Flow" has no lyrics. So if she sampled it, it would only be credited in the instrumental side of things. He's done the same with with Utada who sampled "Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence" he co-wrote on that track too. I feel he's co-written with many artists according to discogs. I do hope you're right though because I love when a song is solo written and it would make me so happy if BABYLON is solo written! Miliyah samples a lot all instrumental's, not everything she's sampled gain a writing credit like ジョウネツ for example. So I'm just believing what's written in the booklet!

I know that's why I left a bunch of citations going off the general consensus of the common things I've heard. I was hesitant to include that but there was so much consistency in what everyone's responses were like I wanted to share it. That's why I made a complete new category for that part because I knew it was unusual and come come off subject. But it's not purely my personal thoughts! I've read so many reviews and people keep saying the same things. I'd seen this done before on the Sparkle/Rule Wiki page so I was like ha maybe I can get away with it.
But you're right I really wish I could find out what the Japanese fans think. But I'm thinking it's on the "English" wikipedia so I'm going off the more international side of thigs. The Japanese wikia can cover that side. Seriously change/erase anything you want! You know just as much about LIBERTY as me probably even more. I honestly take more risks with Wikipedia because I'm like yo someone can fix it if I fuck up hahah

^not to be rude, but I thought the exact same thing as Chiharo. Wikipedia is still more like an encyclopedia - what you wrote there eis nice and all, but reads like a review from you towards the albums with a bunch of theories thrown in there, which tbqh, makes me quite uncomfortable while reading. You may have to take all the side in consideration. For example: Maliyah does not have something like a choice of singles while there are better album tracks - that may be the case, but when the first three singles are produced, there is no sight of the album tracks yet - thats how it works in Japan.

I hope you don't get me wrong - but you really have to work on your objectiveness and what is worth crediting and what not - and this forum is clearly no official source for anything nor a mirror of what fans feels towards anything.

Nice effort however.

edit: maybe:

Nana Kitada - Violet Blaze
Zion.T - OO
Aya Kamiki - Are you happy now?!
Thelma Aoyama - PINk TAERS
MINMI - Ego
Halsey - BADLANDS
Jolin Tsai - MUSE
Koda Kumi - Color the Cover
OLIVIA - Sailing frree
