The only real complaints I heard back then was that the video was too fun/meaningless, but those complaints were also directed towards the lyrics being too casual (I feel tokyoxjapanxfan already covered this better).
Nick from eneabba was the only person I remember really doing something about being against the message of the PV. He returned a few years ago to speak about this when someone asked about the website, and pretty much stood by his beliefs.
There were likely 2-3 more people who said homophobic comments but nothing stands out in my memory. It'll be hard to find evidence of that in old threads since anything that veers into homophobia/hate speech is removed.
