The Sixxxxxx era concepts analysis thread!
Overall guide-lines:
-The intention of this thread is discussing the concepts of Ayu's several releases, analysing the lyrics, the music, the visual, the videos and the tour concept. -Everyone's insights about the concept of an era is welcome! -Please, let's avoid the "this era rocked"/"this era sucked" stuff. -And remember, when it's about the interpretation of a creative work, there's no right and wrong, just different impressions. Offenses towards another member discussing the subject will be reported. I'm not into this release as well, but something interesting starts from here, the number of x represents the number of the tracks, which is 6. Also, I think this is the first time ayu decided to make every single track starts with a certain letter? (In this case, letter s)
Because her new release, TROUBLE, now has W letters (somehow). Is it new trend or something? I suspect her next release will follow the same patterns.

I always thought that the 'x' from the covers looks like the ones you use to mark something you've done, like something from a list. Maybe it's a way to express how she moved on in some aspects of her life. It makes sense with the songs from the album (Sayonara, Sorrows, Step by Step etc)

I always felt that Sayonara feat. SpeXial was the song that probably swerved the entire concept of the album to focus on the Ses and the Xes. I remember them saying there was an unreleased song by RedOne but it seemed to be been scrapped and not mentioned ever since the whole collab happened
Step by Step's PV deserves so much more attention as it really is one of her very well-thought out and conceptual releases in the recent years. I do want to say that when I watched this, I always felt that the use of Japanese people in the PV was super intentional because she always used to use Westerners. This was probably a sign that she was going back to her roots as mentioned in other threads (A ONE) |

IIRC the (at this time unknown) song with RedOne is actually Many Classic Moments... i never really got into sixxxxxx. though i really love Step by step followed by Sayonara feat. SpeXial. for me, i actually enjoy the classical version of Sorrows (from A7 ~Classical~) a whole lot more as it's original arrangement. about the 'x' used on the cover, i also thought that they look like the ones you use to mark something you've done. like she's done these six songs... as freedreamer wrote, Step by step deserves a whole more attention in my eyes... and i think this song also leads into M(A)DE IN JAPAN's direction with the theme of it.
