Definitely. If they have the talent to do it, let them do it.

But just singing for the sake of being a celebrity, that's just stupid.

it makes me wonder which is more annoying: actors becoming singers or singers' little sisters becoming singers. They're both pretty crappy.

mass-produced singers kind of annoy me. on one hand they are just about making-money and selling what they THINK people like. it brings shame to REAL music authors u know? on the other hand, if they just want to sing that's cool too. there's nothing wrong with just wanting to be able to sing. but if its just for money...no!

Well it usually doesn't work out and/or it's usually not good.

I don't like Lindsay Lohan so I'm against that, definately.

Paris Hilton, we'll she's a celebrity for being rich so she might as well try to apply herself to something that makes her deserving of the attention that she recieves. Though she doesn't really seem to interested in the album, it seems like a tool to get more attention and money, neither of which she needs.

I think Hilary Duff has a good voice, and her songs don't bother me really. Maybe that's because I've met her and I think she's really nice. :

Ashlee Simpson kind of annoys me because of the show and all, I don't agree with how she's recieving publicity - through her sister and a reality show she wouldn't have if it weren't for her sister. The recording of pieces of me sounds good, but when she was rehearsing it on her show (which I've only seen once, I swear) she sounded really bad singing it, so I dunno how much of that is her and how much of that is digitally enchanced and stuff.

JLo - I don't like her songs, didn't care for her as an actress (save for in Selena), and I don't think she deserves the attention that she gets. I heard she's quite a diva too.

It's okay if they can sing - but a lot of them can't. No amount of post-production cover-up can hide that. I mean, Jordan wants to be a singer [wisely no one's taken her up on that], Anna Nicole Smith too... all this mass-produced crap has ruined the music business - now anyone who can't sing or has no real talent can get away with it. It's no longer about music anymore - it's just about the attention you can get. I mean, there's a former singer here who's 'career' died, now she's trying to get into acting [and had a few flops] and everyone acts like she's brilliant, when she doesn't do much - pathetic really.

I thought of this while in calc class. I know plenty of multi-talented people. People that are wonderful actors and have beautiful voices, and I think it would be unfair to say they had to choose one or the other to pursue. So look at everything on a case to case basis, some people may be capitalising on something because they can and others may have a real affinity for it.

Mandy Moore did a nice transition with it, though.

Let's say 'good' is relative. And personal.
