Hamasaki Ayumi is waking up to her sense in music. Honestly, i been waiting for one of her recent work to touch me since wishing. You could actually realize that CAROLS had the taste of wishing, No way to say and Moments! Somehow it's a very sad music to me. The first time i heard it was like OH! MY! GOD! I'm crying! Even though i'm crying there's something 'bout the song i wanted more been listening it for already 3 days!!!
LOVE IT!

i think the whole j-pop genre is about jumping from several music types, and never staying the same. This isn't always true, because there are artists who stick to mainly the same type of music (example: Nakashima Mika is mostly a ballads and jazzy artist, in my opinion). I like Carols because it's something new and refreshing, and it will make her next album more interesting than having just rock style j-pop and "loud" songs. About You looks rock style, and loud is refering to Inspire, but in no way does the word "loud" imply a negative meaning in this case. If we look at other artists, we can see the same sort of trend, jumping from song styles to song styles. H!P artists do a mix of everything, ballads, rb-esque, rock-ish, hyper cutey songs. I think that Carols is a welcomed addition to the singles released so far, and I think it is more ballad than Moments. What do we classify Moments, anyways? Ballad?

But I don't consider the song "I am..." a rockish song. For me it's kinda Indie Pop.

I think Ayu just needs to write more songs period. The only song you've guys mentioned which wasn't written by Ayu was "Connected" and that was written by fallen trance God Ferry Corsten. nearly all the songs Ayu writes herself are classic and never get old... I wish she'd make more albums like "I Am..." ;__;

I actually want Ayu to do a LOVEppears-ish song...those songs had the best melodies back then. I'd hate her to go back to I am... style because, to be honest, Ayu wasn't the best composer in the world and most of the songs on there sound so simplistic now after 2498237592357 repeats. Most songs were saved only by the great arrangements.

I think CAROLS is a fantastic song. Definitely different from her normal melodies and more acoustic than most of her songs. I like the idea of piano and a few other instruments without the usual "ayu-ish" sound. I think it is a departure. Also, the melody is quite, quite, quite different from what I'm used to from her. I haven't heard such a different song for some time... I can't even remember the last time I was this surprised by the music.
