Guitar in live performances

Remember the lives of "appears" back in 1999? Well, the guitar you hear there sounds exactly like on 'LOVEppears'... so I'm wondering, was Yocchan really playing guitar? Was it live? I bet it was O_o I mean... why fake play guitar or something, but it sounds exactly the same. It seems impossible XD or really amazing. XD With "INSPIRE" or "GAME" live I could clearly hear it was live, but now with "STEP you" I can't, also with some other songs I dunno if it's real or not. I believe it is, I'm not sure. But then there's another question. They DO play the background music, but then what, is the guitar sound cut out and is Yoshio playing it live, and SO well that you can't hear a difference with the real song [when it's not live]? Or is he playing along, but with the guitar sound in the song? ... and how do they do this in concerts?

... I'm confused [sorry if I confused you too ^^;;] XD I have no knowledge whatsoever about guitars, so sue me XD but does anyone know about this? Please tell me ^___^;

Most likely to keep it sounding just like the CD, it's yochan pretending to play. Everyone up there in her band is pretending on TV performances, only in big concerts is it them really playing. It's cheaper for the TV show producers to have them pretend to play then to have the band be plugged in & set up, plus they're promoting the single so they WANT it to sound like the CD. Yochan's guitar playing style especially is very different from the people on her albums like Naoki Hayashibe and such. The rest of the band has to pretend cuz usually on the album things like bass & drums are done with programming and synthesizers, not real instruments.

it is real instrument, every singer use real instrument(guitar,bass drum,keyboard) and programming TOGETHER in live performance, it can't be fake, you can hear the drum's sound is different(eg. INSPIRE live), in CD there is no real drum but live have.CAROLS's live is playing instrument CD because there are no surround, but, the other live SURELY use REAL instrument.

The band play like the same as CD because of their quality, not because pretending.

yamogi, I believe your right, but I also believe what Delirium-Zer0 says is true. With 'appears' then, they weren't playing live. But with 'INSPIRE' definitely cause I heard it myself ^_^ thx for the info!!

i don't think appear live is the same as CD, the mix/master is clearly different, and not many guitar on that song, most of them are computer effect....
