are you saying that you just watch the lives for how it sounds? might as well never bother watching and just wait for someone to make an mp3 rip of the sound.. the visual is part of the performance.. and how she dressed in them just wasn't appealing to me.. that's all.
singing poorly doesn't help with visuals.
let's put it this way:
singing poorly, might as well not watch the live at all.

..maybe it's just me... lol but if I don't like the way she's singing, I just stop the performance video. I never really notice what she's wearing or how her knees are bent :x

Rather off-topic...

When Ayumi sang "M" on the CM for A MUSEUM, I thought it was horrible. Didn't sound anything like the original.

^The version of M sang on A MUSEUM was the A BALLADS one if that's what you mean as "not being original" :/

Ayu's just doing fine at least for me, she's just changing her style right now and I welcome that.
even if that style differs from what she previously did (and doesnt quite fit your taste) she will most certainly grow with it and continue to surprise us by redefining herself sooner or later again
so cheer up a bit!

Right! You may be the only one person who understands me! Everyone think I am too much angry and pessimistic, or, even, stupid, but it's not that way!

I feel it too! That's why let me kiss your cheek! umm-nyaa!

And I don't agree with UvegotMail! I think if Ayu is real superstar, she still MUST work hard and doesn't give up! Stay on top-or go away! You have to choose! Better to go away when you really need it and if you are tired, than to become a bad artist! IMO, Ayu is better to go away now, until it's not late!

I agree with you! I absoluetly HATE B&D... but I have LOVED her other singles that she has put out... I can't wait to hear her album... I don't think one song should make us complain about the entire album...

I don't like the title of her new album either.... however I haven't seen the cover and the only reason I don't like it is because it reminds me of a Pink rip-off... BUT Ayu always has a way of surprising us and I'm just hanging on hope that this title is used cleverly... perhaps through a song named after the album or just in the booklet itself...

I wouldn't say Ayu is falling off her pedastool... Just because new upcoming artists are giving her a run for the top charts doesn't mean that these new artists will keep their popularity... Ayu has stayed on top for years... and has overcome many few-hit wonders.

Oh please! Seems like people just care for numbers and when Ayu is not number 1 anymore they'll stop to like her.

And you guys overreact SO MUCH! I mean, any female artist can sell as much as Ayu on the first week, besides, maybe, Hikki (her last single didn't do well, but...) and aiko. BoA's singles sell in total the same as Ayu's first week.

Besides, obviously her singles don't sell as much as they did in the past, because NOBODY sells as much in the past. In 2001, it was easy for everybody in top 10 to sell over 200,000 copies. And obviously, Ayu is not as popular as she was in 2001 but she's still the most popular.

But, yeah, I hope Ayu retire soon. I love her music but she can't work like she's working. As we saw in that 2004 special, it's not good for her health. She's working NONSTOP since 1998. Plus, having Max Matsuura as her best-friend is not a good thing, because, for sure, he won't be the one saying to Ayu she's working too much, because Ayu is his number 1 artist and she still sell much more than the others on Avex, so he won't be supporting her decision to retire anytime soon, because she's still selling alot.

oh my, what is that?? fans bashing ayu??

oh well, I guess things go up and down. Ayu is working so hard, there isn't much space between her albums, so she is working really fast!! plus keep in mind that she has serious health problems, (ear) and sometimes even problems with avex, but she's still going strong. she doesn't have to please -everybody everytime-. Don't you think she deserves to please herself with the stuff that she does?
she is so famous and has done so much music and she still isn't out of ideas. why shouldn't she experiment? do you guys want another "my story" "rainbow", "add random album name here"?? I bet not.

So you see, even madonna had a few "bad albums" if you will, but her latest one is a chart breaker again.

and another plus: I don't think shes becoming less popular (we heart that rumor for a few years now and she's still around) She still gets offers to do music for movies and PS-games, so she's still wanted.

though I don't like B&D myself, who knows what she's thinking of next??
I don't say "you mustn't say anything negative about ayu", but i think some of you are being too harsh too fast. 3 "bad songs" in your opinion and she's not popular anymore? come on ^____^;

wait for the album, prelisten and see.

I personally don't care whether or not she's number 1. It's all about thw way she's promoting her releases. Don't get me wrong, but her Step You, Fairyland, and Heaven promotions are great, but she's not doing so well with promoting Bold & Delicious her english may sound cute in the song but on the lives it's totally different. I'm worried about her album and how she's promoting that and how she's going to promote a single that was originally supposed to be on the new album. I'm not bashing her at all, I'm just feeling sorry for her. Utada's been promoting her singles as if she was a professional at it, and her song Passion and the pv for it has just hit the top for me. I'm not going to give up on Ayu, b/c I'm sure soon enough she'll go back to the way she was, and the way her music was.

She IS working hard and not giving up, her sales aren't as great as before,, but atleast she's still trying to release new material for us. You're not even done listening to a song before she's out with another one. You still see her on all these new covers, traveling to so many places, I don't even know how the poor girl has time to sleep.

It's not Ayu who needs to go away, to most of the fans, she's still great- almost everyone loves one or another of her new releases. Maybe it's the fans that don't appreciate all her efforts anymore that should go away

Sometimes i wonder what were some people's view of ayu in her earlier days...I have the feeling some of them thought of her as a perfect goddess without flaws, and now that they realize she has lots of imperfections, they end up getting extremely deceived and start to wish that ayu will just leave her career. ayu was never perfect, people who live to much in her past aren't even bothering to listen to her old songs anymore because they've grown tired but still they struggle to their best to prove that the earlier works were by far much better. In her earlier career she had average songs as well, but a lot of people just got to know ayu only after she already had 3-4 albums so they were exposed all at once to a lot of amazing songs (so many that they wouldn't even notice the average songs), and that got into their impression that EVERYTHING from her earlier career was extremely much better than any of her recent releases. What do they want? to compare LOVeppears + Duty + I am...+ RAINBOW + Memorial address + MY STORY -including all the songs in them- and say that those were much better than a single song Bold & Delicious? Sometimes i have the impression that by each new song ayu releases, some people just pick all of ayu's past songs together and confront them against that single new song alone (kinda like these 245 songs together are much better than this new one, proof that ayu is declining, nonsense, obviously).
UvegotMail said something really true. Why do some people want ayu leave instead of releasing things they considerer to be bad? They should be the ones to stop listening to her. It shows that people just live by appearances, they want to live in the "ayu was always the perfect singer", which is absurd. If ayumi wanted to sing a bunch of horrid crap songs that irritated me, I wouldn't wish for her to leave, I would just simply stop listening to her. She can sing anything she wants and i'm glad at the moment, i'm really enjoying what she's been releasing but the moment she makes something I don't like I won't bother being shocked and saying how much she has declined or that she's better just leave.

What's the difference in her songs and her lives? Not trying to be rude... I really can't tell

plus I don't think Utada's been promoting so good... I actually don't think her new song is better than her older songs... and the PV was not as great as her past PV's... that's my opinion

Ayu's music has always been changing though... it's evolved through the years... I thought that's why we all loved Ayu?

That's so true. WHen someone discovers ayu there is so much material, it's like an endless flow of music, remixes, everything. Lot of it is so great, there are so many "potentially" favourite songs that when something new is released that might sound" bad" it's easy to think that she never released something like that before. I think people just need to remember that f.ex ASFXX had songs like "signal" and that UNITE! was released between evolution and M. =P kind of. (I'm not saying that these songs I mentioned are bad (I liek them a lot), but they're obiously not the biggest fan favourites)

I don't get it. You don't like it when she isn't promoting enough?
Ayu's got at least 7 lives. how about magazines? Ayu's going for 8.
I don't know how many Utada's going to have, since her single hasn't even come out yet. You shouldn't assume Utada's promotion is better when she hasn't even performed yet.

exactly as above, Utada seems to be promoting her singles as if they were not released at all.. :// she barely did any lives for Be My Last... where are her tours, concerts??...

and you're all just exaggerating here.... geeeez, HOW can you judge what the album/music's gonna be like after the TITLES ??????????? the fact you didn't like one single/song doesn't mean she's floping.... talk about pre-judgement...

Im not entirely sure what everyones argument lol... I'm coming in a lil late but I thought id give me two cents

No one lasts forever, not even Ayu, but as long as shes doing what she does, we should all be happy Most artsist put out one album every 3 years or so, Ayu busts her chops for us, So she puts out something you dont like, big deal, in 2 weeks there will be another one

Even if Ayu isnt "the same old ayu" so? artists/people/everybody changes. I respect her for being brave enough to do what she wants. Shes just trying to express herself, maybe we should all try to put ourselves in her shoes. I really dont think Ayu cares if shes number one in the whole wide world. If she did she'd be sticking to teh formula like alot or artists do. I think she just does it because she likes it, and hopes her fans will enjoy it.

Before I even kwo who she as I liked hers ongs, it wanst until later that I found out shes mega popular in Japan, did that make me go "WOW I LOVE HER EVEN MORE!!!" no lol, in 5/10/20 years when Ayu retires (and yes lets get back to reality people ) will I still listen to her? yeah of course. People listen to their old rock bands from teh 70's still and love it more than recent stuff. Why should it be different with hers?

if that was offtopic oh well lol.
