Hajime Chitose Fans

Anyone else here a fan of Hajime Chitose?
She's a shima-uta singer from Amami-o-Shima, but she sings rather adult pop-like songs. I've had a hard time finding other fans of her.

Her voice is gorgeous, although some people find it annoying. I think it's really relaxing, and I'm completely in love with her lately.

She just released a single today. Katarisugu Koto is her 6th single, and the ending theme for the anime BLOOD.
Oricon has an interview with her regarding the release: HERE
But it's in Japanese...so I can't read it (I only know a little bit). Any fans here willing to translate that for the rest of us?

There's also a clip of the PV, and of Chitose talking on that page.
Ch-ch-check it out!

Ah, Hajime Chitose, she's the one that sold nearly a million with a single several years ago wasn't it? I liked it then, somewhat similar in style to Hitoto You & Asuca Hayashi. Good to know she's back.

Anyway, just giving you a reply, it's depressing when there's a new thread on lesser known artists and there are no replies. =/

^ Yeah, "WADATSUMI no ki". It'd be interesting to see how well she does after her long break.

Yeah, I think she was that girl with the crazy voice. I always wondered what happened to her... I'll have to check out the new stuff.

I've heard of her, but I hadn't heard anything by her, until I watched the clip on Oricon. She is pretty and has a unique voice.

I like her music too. but I can definitely understand why a lot of people can find her singing style very irritading lol. Is Shima-Uta the name of the singing style she's using ?

I have the PV for "Kataritsugu Koto" which I could upload at some point if someone is interested.

^_^
Thanks for replying guys! *I was starting to get a little sad about my pathetic little thread...hehe*

But yes, her first single Wadatsumi no Ki sold very well in 2002.
Actually, the Oricon singles ranking for the year went like this:
1 Hamasaki Ayumi - H - 1,000,260
2 Utada Hikaru - Traveling - 856,140
3 Hajime Chitose - Wadatsumi no Ki - 839,420

She did fantastically well, and even sold better than a bunch of other Ayu and Hikki singles. ^_^ That's tough competition.

And yes, Shima-uta is the name of her singing style. Just like Rikki.
*Usually I'd jump on the chance to get a PV, but I ordered the single that comes with the PV DVD. But thanks so much for offering ^_^*

I just downloaded the single, and it seems my younger brother happens to be watching the anime this song was tied-in as the ED to. He likes it too, hehe.

I love the vibrato thing she does with her voice.

I've only heard her 'Nomad Soul' album before , and I think 'Kataritsugu Koto' is definitely a lot better than anything from that album. 'Nomad Soul' is just pretty typical pop/ballads with guitar sounds and stuff , and there's no shortage of artists with similar sound like that. 'Nomad Soul' is just kinda average/good whereas 'Kataritsugu Koto' is excellent

agreed.

But then again, Katarisugu Koto is closer to her sound on her first Epic album Hainumikaze, which is muuuuuuuuch better than Nomad Soul.
If you guys want, I can upload some albums of hers for you. I've got Kotonoha, Hainumikaze, Nomad Soul and her hardcore shima-uta album Shima Kyora Umui.

Her singing style was said to have this soothing effect that relaxes the brain I think. And knowing the stressful lifestyle of Japanese people no wonder that 'wadatsumi no ki' song did well.

Can anyone upload this song btw? I deleted this song a few years ago because I found it annoying.

I love the B-side "Tsuki wo nusumu" even more than the A-side, lovely song.
